Whether you need help turning your scribbled notes into something readable or creating study guides, flash cards or quizzes, the latest AI chatbots can help turbocharge your learning.
Having trouble deciding which AI chatbot is right for you? ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini are all capable, but here’s how each one stands out.

Create the perfect study schedule
Baseline skill: All four chatbots can help you create personalised study schedules. Upload your weekly schedule along with your current classes and ask the app to make a customised study plan that lets you take weekends and Thursday nights off. The apps will suggest when to get started on homework and projects – and when to kick your studying up a notch ahead of exams.
Star students: Gemini can put your custom study plan right into your Google calendar. ChatGPT can send you push notification reminders.
Prerequisites: To connect Gemini to your Google Calendar, tap the Apps button in settings and toggle on the Google Workspace integration. ChatGPT enables push notifications when using the o3 and o4-mini models.
Sample prompt: Upload your class schedule, then enter, “Make a customised study plan that lets me take weekends off, prepares me for tests and tells me when to get started on homework.” From there, tell Gemini, “Add this schedule to my Google calendar,” or tell ChatGPT, “Send me automatic reminders.”
Make interactive revision cards
Baseline skill: Create custom revision cards from your class notes that you can export to view in your web browser. Want to swot up on general info, such as country capitals or elements of the periodic table? Ask the apps to generate that on the fly.
Star student: Claude offers a slick interactive option. Just share your notes on anatomy and physiology, for example, and Claude will create a mini app – known as an Artifact – that you can tap through.
Prerequisites: In Claude’s settings, tap Tools and toggle on Artifacts.
Sample prompt: “Create interactive flash cards based on the notes I uploaded.”
Test your knowledge
Baseline skill: Generate a multiple-choice quiz based on your notes.
Star student: Copilot makes its quizzes interactive – tap to pick the right answer – and tells you how you scored. You can also ask about anything you got wrong and request another test focused on just the material you need to brush up on.
Prerequisites: Make sure your chat is in “Quick response” mode at the bottom of the page.
Sample prompt: “Create a quiz on Henry VIII.”

Convert your handwritten notes
Baseline skill: Take a photo of your handwritten notes to convert your class scribbles into text.
Star students: Although they’re not chatbots, the digital notebooks Goodnotes and Notability are a convenient way to capture and convert, especially on iPad with Apple Pencil. In Goodnotes, select the Lasso, circle your writing and tap it to see the option to convert to text. In Notability, you can access the Handwriting Conversion feature in the main menu.
Prerequisites: You’ll need a subscription to Goodnotes and Notability for unlimited conversion.
