Return to Monkey Island

Sail the silly seas in a swashbuckling adventure.

We’ve missed you, Guybrush Threepwood! The nice-guy pirate is back in Return to Monkey Island—the sixth installment of the beloved point-and-click adventure series—and this time, he’s out to unearth the island’s secret at last. Hair-raising hijinks ensue as you join the crew of longtime nemesis LeChuck, outwit the queen of icy Brr Muda, and swap insults with plucky buccaneers. Arrrr you ready for adventure, matey?

A vibrant new art style complements the clever gags and puzzles.

What we love: The saber-sharp writing. Puns fly like cannonballs and there are enough wink-worthy jokes and sly references to fill a treasure chest. Guybrush and his quirky friends and foes (like Murray the disembodied skull and fast-talking used-ship salesman Stan) are as charming as ever, but if you’ve never played a Monkey Island game, fear not – Guybrush’s scrapbook will catch you up on all his exploits.

Quick tip: Stuck below deck in LeChuck’s ship? Mop up the grease, then swab the porthole. You’ll have to do it three times before you can wriggle through! (Unless you’re playing on Hard difficulty instead of the story-focused Casual mode, in which case you’ll first need to grease the porthole screws and remove them with your knife.)

Meet the creator: Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman, co-creators of the first two Monkey Island games, partnered to write and produce this sequel to 1991’s Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. Gilbert, Grossman and their teams worked on the game in secrecy for two years, announcing it to the world on April Fools’ Day in 2022.
