7 purrfect tips for Stray
Follow these hints and you’ll always land on your feet.
You’re a cute kitty who’s stumbled into a mysterious cyberpunk city – and all you want to do is get home! Navigating the breathtaking world of Stray takes agility, smarts and catlike curiosity. But sometimes even the most formidable feline needs a helping paw. Curl up with these seven tips:
Grab some air
Look for air conditioner units with little ribbons waving in the breeze – these usually mark the path to collectibles or robotic Companions. Hop on the first one you spot, then watch for ways to climb even higher.
Talk and trade
Companions will never harm you, so talk to everyone! They’ll often give you important items or clues (and maybe a relaxing scratch behind the ears). And don’t worry about giving an item to the wrong Companion: no two bots will ask for the same object.

Look for the light
Not sure which way to go? Keep an eye out for neon signs, which not-so-subtly mark areas you need to visit. (Some even have arrows pointing you in the right direction.) If you’re still stuck, press 1 (or down on your controller’s D-pad) to ask your drone buddy, B-12, for advice.
Dodge the Zurks
Zigzag while running through swarms of menacing Zurks – it makes it harder for the little creeps to latch on. (Traumatised by seeing your tabby get felled by Zurks? Uncheck the “Show Cat Death” box in the game’s settings.)
Barrel along
Barrels are more than just a nice place for a nap – they can also help you reach out-of-reach ledges. Find a barrel, duck inside and start walking to roll it under the ledge; then hop up and move on. Barrels can also be an efficient and satisfying way to dispatch a horde of Zurks: get the barrel rolling fast enough and you’ll squish them!

Crack the code
You’ll occasionally need a four-digit code to unlock a safe or door – explore the area to find the digits. A particularly tricky one in Seamus’ apartment requires you to scratch pictures off the wall to reveal the hidden keypad and a clue: “Time will tell”. What could it mean? Take a look at the clocks on the wall. It can’t be a coincidence there are four...
Be the cat
Swat at blinds to roll them up and reveal a new path. Knock things off shelves to find hidden collectibles. Scratch at doors to see if someone will open them. Meow for attention or to lure Zurks into a trap. The more you act like a cat, the more stuff you’ll find! Just be careful – you know what they say about curiosity and cats.
