Now supporting Tilta Nucleus M rings and the Nucleus M2 hand unit — design, preview and print focus labels for your Nucleus M2, straight from your iPhone. RingThing turns focus ring labels into something you actually want to put on your kit. Built for camera assistants working with ARRI Hi-5, ARRI WCU-4 or Tilta Nucleus M2 hand units (with others in development), it lets you design, preview and export beautifully laid out focus, iris and zoom ring labels straight from your iPhone. Open a .rng file exported from a Hi-5, or import ARRI, cmotion or Tilta LDA calibration tables for the lenses you're using — and RingThing renders a ring label that matches the engraved scales, mark for mark. DESIGN • Carefully drawn typography for imperial and metric focus scales, including superscript fractions and decimals. • Interpolated minor marks with adjustable density so dense ends of the scale stay readable. • Theme system with presets you can override; build and save your own themes, or import a friend's with a QR code. • Live preview with rotation, contrast cues and a print-accurate layout. SOURCES • Open .rng files exported from an ARRI Hi-5. • Import ARRI, cmotion and Tilta LDA (.tab, .cml, .tl) lens calibration tables — by file, by scanning a QR code, or from a photo. • Choose which scale to render from a multi-axis LDA: focus, iris or zoom. • Convert ARRI LDAs to Tilta Nucleus M2 LDA files (Pro) • Files restore on cold launch, so the lens you were just working on is right there when you re-open the app. EXPORT & SHARE • Print-ready PDFs and PNGs sized for A4 stock. • Crisp SVGs for design and cutting tools (Pro). • Themed story-image exports for sharing your work. • Optional contrasting border on print exports for cleaner trimming. • Share imported LDAs with the rest of your camera department. 3D-PRINTABLE APPLICATION JIGS • Share an STL for a left- or right-handed Hi-5, WCU-4 or Tilta Nucleus M jig and print one on any FDM or resin printer. • The jigs hold the labels squarely against the rings while you press down — no more wonky applications. PRO A one-time, no-subscription Pro purchase unlocks SVG export, .rng import, ARRI-to-Tilta LDA conversion, Data Matrix barcodes, persistent theme and LDA libraries, and saved custom themes. Free version users can take LDA imports for a test drive each session before deciding. Feedback and feature requests are very welcome via the Instagram link inside the app.

Version 1.4.1 • Left-handed and reversed ring labels are now supported when using an LDA as the source. • New calibration ring label for troubleshooting any alignment issues. Version 1.4 • Tilta Nucleus M2 support. Generate labels for Nucleus M rings from any LDA - ARRI or Nucleus M2. • Import Tilta LDA files into your LDA library and work with them just like ARRI LDA files. • ARRI-to-Tilta LDA conversion (Pro) — convert an ARRI LDA into a Tilta Nucleus M2 LDA file and load it onto your hand unit. This can save you hours of prep time. • Tilta application jigs — share an STL to print a jig that holds a Nucleus label squarely on the ring. • Straight-strip labels — a no-taper layout for applying labels onto flat or 3D-printed custom rings. Version 1.3.1 • Adding a link to the new cutting machine workflow tutorial video. • Scale charts generated from LDA calibration data are now visible for each LDA file. Version 1.3 • More ways to customise your ring labels - gradients, new typefaces, style major and minor marks independently etc. • The 'above' label position option now stretches major marks all the way across the label width. • Experimental support for importing cmotion LDA files. Version 1.2.2 • You can now rename folders in the LDA library to fix any errors or abbreviations an LDA might contain. • Bug fixes for mark placement on labels generated from LDA files. Version 1.2.1 • Imperial focus scales now use only inches up until two feet, as per industry convention. • Social stories can now be generated in both 9:16 and 4:5 aspect ratios. • Fixed an LDA library display issue where Cooke lens names were not displaying correctly. • Duplicate LDA files are now ignored on import. Version 1.2 • WCU-4 ring support - format labels to fit WCU-4 / SXU-1 / cPro style rings. • LDA library feature added - import lens data in LDA (.tab) files and they are automatically organised by manufacturer, type, focal length and serial number. Share LDA files by QR code, messaing apps etc. • Generate focus, iris and zoom ring labels directly from LDA files. • Added a toggle to control whether a border is added to designs exported for print, to suppress it when using cutting machines. • 3D printable jigs for applying Hi-5 labels are now bundled in the app - get perfect alignment every time. Coming soon: • Support for Preston, Teradek and cmotion hand units.
