Pling: SSH Client & SFTP
The AI-native terminal
Free · In-App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Your servers, in your pocket. Pling is the most powerful SSH client and push notification platform for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Spin up a terminal in seconds, or say what you want done and let Pling run the session.
MADE FOR iPHONE DUO
Unfold for a bigger terminal: run two sessions side by side or stacked, drag the divider to resize, and switch panes from the keyboard. Split view works on iPad too.
COMMAND AGENT
Describe a task in plain English and Pling runs the SSH session for you: planning, dispatching, reading output, and adjusting as it goes. It asks on real decisions and stops before anything destructive. Launch it from the new Spotlight launcher or any terminal.
SSH & TERMINAL
A real terminal: full ANSI color, true emulation, and good-looking themes. Connect with SSH or Mosh. Mosh keeps sessions alive through subway tunnels and cellular handoffs. Jump hosts, SSH config import, and live port forwarding you can edit mid-session. Plus CRT mode, keyboard reordering, and saved snippets.
REMOTE DESKTOP
Stream and control a host's full graphical desktop in-app over hardware-accelerated H.264. Move the pointer, type on-screen, pinch to zoom, and tune resolution, frame rate, and bitrate.
PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
Hook up servers, scripts, and CI with one HTTP request. Custom channels, low-to-critical priorities, and action URLs to a runbook. End-to-end encrypted, delivered even when Pling is closed.
AI COMMANDS & VOICE
Forget a flag? Generate commands with AI tuned to your setup, or speak them on-device with Whisper or Apple Speech. Add photos or files for context.
SERVER MONITORING
Watch CPU, memory, disk, network, and uptime live via our agent or over SSH. Set thresholds and get pushed the moment a box runs hot.
SFTP FILE MANAGER
Browse, upload, download, and edit remote files natively. Preview images, PDFs, and docs. Search the directory and multi-select for bulk delete or downloads.
WAKE ON LAN
Power on a sleeping machine remotely. Pling sends the magic packet directly or via another host, with live status until it wakes.
SESSIONS & HOSTS
Every host card shows live reachability, plus a badge when the Pling agent is installed. Session recording and live sharing to pair in real time. Tap a host with a tmux or zellij session running and Pling jumps back in instead of duplicating it. Save a Workspace; hosts plus their sessions; and restore it on any synced device. Batch commands and schedule recurring jobs 24/7.
SECURITY
Keys and credentials live in Keychain, behind Face ID or Touch ID, with auto-lock, host verification, and fingerprint management. Optionally sync SSH keys and passwords via your Pling Account, with an audit screen for what syncs and what stays local.
YOUR PLING ACCOUNT
Sign in with Apple or Google to your own account; link both or merge duplicates. Your hosts, keys, and settings sync across devices, and you can now use Pling on the web.
APPLE WATCH, WIDGETS & SIRI
Triage notifications, check status, and run commands from your wrist with iPhone nearby; complications show unread counts. Pin hosts to your Home Screen and ask Siri if prod is up.

more Screen
See and control your computer from your iPhone, iPad or iPhone Duo. Pling streams its screen over your own SSH connection and gives you a trackpad, a key bar with sticky modifier keys, a compose box for longer text, and a clipboard that stays in sync both ways. The picture adapts to your network by itself.
Mac, Windows and Linux
Screen works with Macs running Pling Agent, Windows 10 and 11 PCs, and Linux desktops, on X11 and on GNOME with Wayland. Pling follows the computer it's talking to, with Windows keys on a PC, Super on Linux, and a setup guide for each.
Pair in Seconds
Scan the code Pling Agent shows on your Mac to add it without typing a password. Pling checks the Mac's code with you before trusting it, and if something on the computer still needs setting up, it tells you exactly what.
Made for iPhone Duo
Stand your iPhone Duo half open like a laptop and Screen puts the desktop on top with the keys and trackpad below. Hold it like a book and the keys get their own page, or open it flat for the full picture.
2.6.10 1 day ago
Split View
Run two sessions at once on iPad and on the unfolded iPhone Duo. Open a session in split from the tab bar, drag a tab onto the terminal, or press ⌘D. Pling lays the panes out side by side or stacked to fit your screen, and the divider snaps to thirds and halves while it shows each pane's size. Drag it past an edge to close a pane, or double-tap a pane's title to zoom it to full screen and back.
Typing Goes Where You Expect
The keyboard follows the pane you tap, so what you type always lands in the session you're looking at. Voice input goes to the focused pane too, and your split stays together in the tab bar and comes back after a relaunch.
Keyboard Shortcuts
With a hardware keyboard, ⌘D opens a new session in split, ⌘[ and ⌘] move between panes, and ⌘1 to ⌘9 jump between tabs. On iPad, every split command is also in the new Split menu.
Polish
Host passwords no longer go missing after your phone has been locked. New sessions open at the right terminal size, so the shell doesn't start with a stray % sign, and in windowed mode on iPad the terminal stays clear of the window controls.

Terminal Links
Links in your terminal are now a tap away, including output from Claude Code and Codex. Open them straight from the session, with support for tmux and Zellij too, so you can follow a link without copying it out first.
Connection Previews
Your connection cards now show the full terminal preview, keeping text at the top and bottom in view. Home updates as soon as a new preview is available, without the previous refresh delay.
Mac Agent Status
Pling now uses the newest Mac agent status when a host appears under more than one name. Older reports can no longer overwrite newer permission and readiness information.
Polish
Connection errors now give clearer guidance when an SSH hostname cannot be found, including Tailscale names and jump hosts. Small copy improvements throughout the app make messages easier to read, with cleaner punctuation across supported languages.
2.5.10 15 Sept
Agent Approvals
Coding agents like Claude Code ask permission before doing anything risky, and now those requests land on your phone. Approve or deny straight from the push notification, wherever you are, and the agent carries on the moment you answer. Setup is one button on the host: Pling installs the hook over SSH and everything else is automatic.
Scrolling That Feels Right
One-finger scrolling now works the way your thumb expects, even inside tmux and Mosh. Flick through history while the session stays live, and the view holds its place when the keyboard appears. No more losing your spot mid-scroll.
Snippet Ghost Preview
Pick a snippet and see it ghosted inline at the cursor before you commit to it. What you preview is exactly what gets typed, so long commands stop being a leap of faith.
Wake Proxy
Wake-on-LAN packets rarely make it across networks, so Pling now hands you a portable wake command that runs through any host that can reach the sleeping machine. Run it from another server, a cron job, or a friend's laptop, cthe machine still gets its wake-up call.
Polish
The quick-keys bar no longer lingers on screen after returning from the background, the Hosts tab now shows the same OS icons as the rest of the app, streamed cursor flicker is gone, and Claude Code is detected reliably on hosts that have it.
2.4.10 12 Aug
Session Sharing, Upgraded
Share a terminal and your link now comes with a QR code, a live viewer count, and time remaining at a glance. Viewers can raise a hand to ask for typing access and you grant it with a tap. The web viewer reconnects on its own after a blip, keeps the terminal exactly the host's size, and loads instantly with nothing fetched from third parties.
Agentic Command
Tell Pling what you want done in plain English and it runs the SSH session for you: planning each step, dispatching agent, reading the output, and adjusting as it goes. It asks a quick question when it hits a real decision and stops to check with you before anything destructive. Kick it off from the new Spotlight-style launcher or the Command Agent button in any terminal.
Screen: Remote Desktop
See and control a host's full graphical desktop right inside the app, streamed live as smooth, hardware-accelerated H.264 video. Move the pointer with precision, type on the on-screen keyboard, pinch to zoom and pan, and push the resolution, frame rate and bitrate as high as your connection allows.
Wake on LAN
Power on a sleeping machine without getting up. Pling can auto-detect its MAC address from an active SSH session or take one you enter by hand, then send the magic packet straight to it or bounce it through another host on the same network, with live status until it wakes.
Sign in with Google
Sign in with Google now sits right alongside Sign in with Apple. Link both to a single Pling account so your hosts, keys and settings follow you to every device, and merge a second account into your main one if you started out on the wrong sign-in.
Your Pling Account
Signing up now creates a Pling account that's yours. Sign in to Pling on the web with it today, and it's the groundwork for Pling coming to more of your devices, with your hosts, keys and settings synced across every one. Your profile photo rides along too, so it's the same wherever you sign in.
Live Host Status
Every host card now tells you at a glance whether it's reachable, with a live online dot and a badge when the Pling agent is installed. Offline hosts quietly hide the actions you can't use right now, so the menu only ever shows what actually works.
Smarter Sessions
Tap a host that already has a tmux or zellij session running and Pling jumps straight back into it instead of opening a duplicate. And when a host can't be reached, it offers to close out the dead sessions in a single tap.

Workspaces
Save a named bundle of hosts and their tmux/zellij sessions, then one-tap restore the whole set on any iCloud-synced device. Pick multiple existing sessions at once, queue brand-new ones, or snapshot your currently-open sessions into a fresh workspace. Lives in Sessions, Infrastructure, right next to SSH and SFTP.
iCloud Vault Sync
SSH private keys and host passwords now sync across iPhone and iPad via iCloud Keychain. No more re-typing the same sudo password on every device. A new audit screen under Settings, Keys & security shows exactly what's syncing, when each category last synced, and what stays device-only by design. Face ID before enabling. Synced items disappear automatically if you sign out of iCloud.
Active Sessions Carousel
The connections strip at the top of the Sessions tab is now a live carousel. Each card shows a real snapshot of its running session, refreshed continuously. Double-tap to jump in, long-press for Quick Resume (a full browser with pin/unpin/open shortcuts). Pin the sessions you keep coming back to so they stay on the carousel even when their tab is closed.
Port Forwarding Control Surface
Add, rename, toggle and remove SSH port forwards live on a connected host without reopening the session. The Add host sheet validates ports as you type, scrolls to the rule you just touched.
SFTP Improvements
The file browser now has in-directory search via the standard iOS search bar, and multi-select with bulk delete and share-sheet bulk download.
Chat + Terminal Attachments
Drop photos and files into chat mode or the terminal composer. The new staging sheet lets you tap any thumbnail to edit it before sending, and uploads stream with a live overlay.
Smoother iPad Split Terminals
Drag the divider between split panes on iPad and watch them respond properly.
Plus a pile of bugs squished.

HUGE SUMMER UPDATE!
Tailscale Device Import
Paste a Tailscale API key and import every device on your tailnet as a Pling host in one tap. Connect by MagicDNS name. This means: no IPs to remember. Your Tailscale app handles the networking, so routing just works as long as it's running.
Shared tmux & zellij Sessions
Pling agent now detects tmux and zellij sessions on your servers and lets you attach, share with guests, or kill them from the new Sharing hub. Pair on a long-running session from your phone without anyone having to redial in.
Hetzner Cloud Server Import
Drop in a Hetzner Cloud API token and pull every server (IPv4 and IPv6) into Pling as a saved host. Same one-tap flow we already have for AWS and DigitalOcean.
Chat Mode
A new way to talk to the AI assistant; type questions, attach screenshots from your photo library, and get answers in a conversational thread instead of one-shot commands. Toggle it per-session or set it as the default in Settings.
Annotate Images Before Sending
Drawing tools on every attached image. Circle the error, underline the line number, or scribble a note before you ship it to the AI or off to a teammate. Built on PencilKit so Apple Pencil and finger input both feel right.
Docker Container Logs
Tap any container on a host to stream its logs live. Pling finds the docker binary wherever it lives (PATH, Homebrew, /usr/local/bin) so it works on macOS, Linux, and orchestrated boxes without setup.
New Snippet Packs
Curated command snippets for Docker, systemd, and Adobe Campaign Classic. Enable a pack from Settings → Snippets and the commands show up in your terminal accessory bar. No copying from a wiki, no guessing flags.
Enhanced Onboarding
A redesigned welcome flow that walks you through hosts, push, AI, and Chat Mode on first launch, with a skip option at every step. Faster setup whether you're a first-timer or restoring from iCloud.
More Languages
Pling now speaks Czech, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese, bringing the total to 24 languages.
Homebrew Install for Pling Agent
On macOS, install the Pling agent with a single brew install; service ops, logs, and config live under your brew prefix and start automatically after token setup.
More Terminal Fonts
A fresh selection of monospaced fonts in Settings → Terminal Font, including ligature-aware options so arrows, comparisons, and markdown symbols render cleanly in editors and git diffs.
Alternate App Icons
Three new icons to pick from in Settings. Bonfire, Midnight, and Capybara: alongside the default. Match Pling to your home screen aesthetic. Capybara's my oldest daughter's favorite, so give it a try.
