Founded in 2024 after 24 years of service in the Marines—21 of those dedicated to recruiting and earning the prestigious Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 8412 Career Recruiter—I observed a persistent issue across the United States. Business owners and companies found it difficult to attract talent of all ages while students, professionals and faculty members often struggled to connect with local employers and military recruiters. This platform offers a straightforward application process that can connect users with hiring managers or recruiters almost instantly.
As for our cactus logo, it symbolizes resilience and determination—qualities I learned growing up in Lubbock, TX. Additionally, the word “cactus” comes from Latin, tracing back to the Ancient Greek word κάκτος (káktos), which Theophrastus used for a spiny plant of uncertain identity. Similarly, many people aged 16+ are still on a journey to discover their own identities and aspirations in life. The WHY
Faculty members and students do not know who their military representatives are or who is hiring in the local area.
Employers (small business owners) have a limited budget and it makes it extremely hard to advertise and market so they can hire individuals who are looking for their 1st JOB!
Students have peer pressure at an all-time high which prevents them from applying for a job, reaching out to a military recruiter to explore opportunities, or reaching out to a mental health professional to get help.
Mental Health Professionals will be on a volunteer basis and available on a round robin style platform in their respective states to assist briefly and offer some guidance.
Purpose:
This application bridges the gap for employers, students, recruiters, faculty members, and mental health professionals to help place students into the workforce and/or military, and to seek mental health guidance from a Mental health professional who is volunteering during the times the video chat is open (8am to 7pm local time). Each recruiter has a set of zip code they are responsible for. When a faculty member or student creates a profile, they are matched to their respective recruiter. They can explore current openings, text, video chat and schedule appointments to meet the military representative. When a student investigates the workforce, they will see all companies who are hiring within their zip code they reside in. From there they can look at current openings, text, video chat and schedule an appointment with the hiring manager if they want to move forward. No resume and No application!
Students and faculty will have to initiate contact first.
