Buxus provides critical information from pipeline operators to stakeholders, including emergency responders and the public. Information is specific to each operator and includes emergency contact information, products transported, hazard identification, and response guidance. Users can also request specific information from operators in their communities and provide or report other information critical to operators. Buxus is a tool developed to assist stakeholders with learning more about pipelines and critical infrastructure in their communities. Because the app is used by emergency officials to prepare for, and respond to, a potential pipeline release, access to certain information and features is restricted to emergency officials, including first responders. To access features intended for use by emergency personnel, users must either be invited to register by an authorized user, or answer questions designed to validate their status as an emergency official.
