The Bhagavad Gītā, the way it deserves to be read and heard: the full Sanskrit text, beautifully typeset, recited aloud, with the tools to actually find your way around it. Search the Gita by meaning, not just keywords.
A reader, not a feed. Read the dialogue of Krishna and Arjuna on the field of Kurukshetra chapter by chapter, study any line word by word (padaccheda), and turn to Vedanta's most-read text whenever you need it. A faithful edition of this Hindu scripture, built for study, not distraction.
The complete text
All 18 chapters and 700 verses in Devanagari, with a faithful English translation and per-word meanings for every line, so you can follow the Sanskrit, not just read around it.
Hear it recited, read along
Play any verse and hear the Sanskrit chanted aloud while the text lights up in time with the voice, one word at a time. The transliteration highlights in step, and the line being recited stays bright while the rest of the verse dims, so your eye never loses its place. Let it play straight through a chapter, or repeat a single verse until it settles.
Śaṅkara's commentary
The classical bhāṣya of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya accompanies the verses, including his whole-Gītā introduction (Upodghāta), for readers who want to go deeper than the surface meaning.
Search by meaning, not just keywords
Ask in plain language. Type "dealing with anxiety," "doing your duty," or "finding inner peace," and the app finds the verses that actually speak to it, across chapters, even when your words never appear in the text. Each result tells you why it matched: the translation, Śaṅkara's commentary, or a Sanskrit term.
Read the Sanskrit in your own script
Prefer to read in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, or Oriya? Render the verse and the word-by-word meanings in your own Indic script instead of Devanagari, with one tap. It is a faithful transliteration of the same Sanskrit, verified letter-for-letter, so you can read and chant in the script you know, with the English meaning still beside it.
Related verses
Follow a search to a verse and the app points you to related passages from across the Gītā, so one verse opens naturally onto the next.
Built to be read, not to watch you
No accounts. No login. No ads. No third-party trackers. Your favorites and reading stay on your device. After the first load, browsing and reading work offline.
A small, carefully tended project. If a translation, commentary, or word meaning looks wrong, or you have a suggestion, write to support@bgita.app. Every message is read.
