In campaign stages (Normal difficulty) and Realm Trial challenges, you can use the Backup Radio to call another pilot to continue the fight after failing. Using the Backup Radio adds 30 seconds to the timer, and the backup pilot continues the fight with full Energy, able to immediately use their Ultimate.
