本校創立於1931年，由9個校區組成，總校區共186公頃；扣除安南及歸仁校區，校本部共86公頃。校區內之建築物有許多歷史古蹟（格致堂、禮賢樓、大成館、歷史系館、小東門等）以及知名景點（榕園、成功湖、綠色魔法學校等）。本校為於臺南市中心要塞，在城鄉迅速發展的府城還能保有古都氣息，至今仍有許多歷史建築依舊聳立於校內。但由於校區遼闊，鮮少有人能完整跨校區走訪，以致多數人對於校園生態環境仍然一知半解，相當可惜。"走跳成大"是一套結合校園文化與運動素養的應用程式，以定向越野概念串連本校優越的地理環境，結合古蹟校舍以及裝置藝術等建立標的。利用地圖導引找尋設置的跑點，進行探索性的體能遊戲，行進間藉由軟體呈現景點簡介，不僅可以深度認識校園古蹟建築，更能達到運動效益。
