Leap across time in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Fight through a trap-filled fortress to save your prince.

Ready for a spellbinding trip back in time? Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown embraces the beloved action-adventure series’ 2D-platformer roots while adding fast-paced combat, gorgeous visuals and a deep dive into Persian mythology.

You’re Sargon, one of seven nearly unstoppable warriors known as the Immortals. But when your prince is kidnapped and taken to a citadel deep inside the mysterious Mount Qaf, it’ll take more than sword-fighting skills to save him. Only with newfound powers to manipulate space and time can you defeat sneaky assassins, solve devious puzzles and unravel a conspiracy that threatens the kingdom.

Use traps to your advantage as you swing, dash and battle your way through a sprawling mountain fortress.

What we love: Chaining moves and supernatural abilities into powerful combos. It’s a rush kicking an undead soldier into the air, juggling him with shots from your magical bow, then using your air-dash power to slam him into a wall of spikes. Or take a baddie by surprise using your shadow power: create a time-frozen copy of yourself, teleport into it when it’s directly behind your unsuspecting foe and attack!

Quick tip: If a ledge seems a bit too far away or a switch or item appears well out of reach, don’t fret! It just means you don’t have the ability or equipment needed to access it just yet. Mark the spot using your map’s Memories function – which saves the location along with a screenshot, so you know exactly what’s there – and return later.

Earn special powers by vanquishing bosses, like this colossal snake with a metal spike for a tail.

Meet the creator: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown comes from Ubisoft Montpellier, best known for the Rayman franchise launched in the 1990s by studio co-founders Michel Ancel and Frédéric Houde. The original Prince of Persia (1989) was developed for the Apple II by Karateka creator Jordan Mechner; it went on to spawn more than a dozen sequels and spin-offs.
