Another Voice is an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app which originally was created by a father for his 6-year-old daughter with non-verbal autism.
After witnessing the app's positive impact on her ability to communicate and overall quality of life, it has been further developed and made available to the public.
It provides a customizable and user-friendly platform for individuals with speech or language difficulties to express themselves through symbols, text, and voice output.
Being the parents to a child who uses an AAC on a daily basis, we know first hand how frustrating it can be when technology hinders instead of helps. That's why we have designed Another Voice to be as easy to use for both you and your child as possible.
Our app is powerful yet affordable, offering the following features:
Totally Customizable
- Choose grid sizes, colors, style, font size, capitalization, label position and much more.
- Add any word or sentence you want.
- Includes tens of thousands of searchable, easily identifiable colored symbols with outlines.
- Allows you to upload your own photos and symbols.
- Turn on/off: built in keyboard, search, home and backspace buttons.
- Turn on/off: auto-return to home grid after pressing tile, auto-return/auto-clear after speaking sentence and many more "If This Then That" functions.
High-Quality Voices
- Includes neural voices for boys, girls, and adults.
- Supports Siri text-to-speech voices in American, British, and Australian accents.
- Plenty of options, including choosing to speak each word as pressed or only full sentences.
Cloud Connected
- Automatically backs up all child settings and boards to the cloud.
- Syncs updates across all devices with a simple pull-down refresh.
- Removes the need for manual backups.
Made for Sharing
- Enables board sharing with therapists and caregivers using a 6-digit "child connection code."
- Allows professionals to manage an unlimited number of children and boards from a single account.
Tablets and Phones
- Works seamlessly on all devices.
- Automatically adapts board sizes for both large tablet and small phone screens.
Programmable Tiles
- Adjusts labels automatically to match pronouns (e.g., "is" becomes "I am" or "You are").
- Lets you program tiles to speak on short presses and switch grids on long presses, for example to display synonyms.
- Supports different words or sentences being spoken than what is shown on the label.
Childproof
- Prevents children from editing boards with a single lock button press.
- Optional auto-lock and auto-rotate screen to correct orientation when board is opened.
- Login with communicate-only mode using a simple 6-digit "child login code."
- Does not require a separate child account.
Full Offline Support
- Does not require any internet connection to communicate.
- Internet only required to update and sync the settings and boards.
Affordable
- Available for life with a one-time payment, no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Open Boards (future version)
- Supports importing and exporting boards using the open-source Open Board format.
