Chatboard
A new dashboard-style home screen plays a central role in your user experience and replaces the previous conversation home screen where you returned to whenever you ended a conversation. Now, your users will be returned to the Chatboard. This dashboard feature has all the capabilities of the old home screen, but is much more versatile and powerful. Dashboard widgets can be created that can be used to display any information to your users, using real-time data, and give your users direct access to conversations. Using the dashboard in partnership with conversations gives you new ways to simplify the conversation, options, and streamline the user experience. Dashboards can also be used to organize the user experience, provide live-data visualizations and advanced input capabilities right from the dashboard screen.
User Onboarding
A new user onboarding experience has been created to improve security and add flexibility. Prior to version 2.5, a user’s onboarding experience could vary depending on whether your apps were using your own single-sign-on service, AppTree IO’s built-in authentication or on-boarding new users through a third party app integration. In 2.5, we’ve standardized the on-boarding process for all users regardless of the integrations or authentication method. In 2.5, we are prompting the user for an email or mobile number which becomes the identifier we use when creating their profile. Your users will also have the ability to set a display name they’d like us to use in the app and we’ve made it easier for them to connect to their assistants. We’ve implemented an alias system so you can give user friendly names to your assistants that are more obvious and discoverable by your users.
Navigation
We’ve replaced the buttons in the lower right of the screen with the avatars (the icons) for each of your assistants. Prior to version 2.5, users used the “+” button to start a new conversation with the active assistant. These controls were also used to access help and to change the assistant they were chatting with. Now in release 2.5, users will see a list of icons for all registered assistants and the only thing the buttons are used for is swapping between them. Users now start new conversations by interacting with the dashboard.
Localization
The 2.5 platform now supports localization. When using localization, text is translated dynamically based your mobile devices localization preferences. To take advantage of localization, it must first be enabled for your assistant and then the responses must be ‘tagged’ for translation. Please reach out to support@apptreesoftware.com for more information about how you can implement location in your app. Someone from our Professional Services team will contact you with more details.
Help & Settings
The built-in help assistant has been updated to be easier to use and to support the new features in release 2.5. When adding assistants, users can now search for them by their aliases and no longer need to know the exact identifiers. We’ve added improved support for managing notifications and updating the users profile preferences.
