Built with Apple’s high-performance Accelerate Framework (vDSP), it enables researchers, audio engineers, and students to record audio and instantly generate core signal processing metrics for deep insights into sound dynamics.
Key features include:
- Real-time recording and analysis: Record up to 90 seconds of audio directly on your device. The app analyzes the recording rapidly upon stopping.
- Loudness dynamics (RMS profile): View a detailed plot of the Root Mean Square (RMS) energy over time, showing normalized loudness dynamics and identifying patterns of steady sound (music) versus transient spikes (speech/sports commentary).
- Acoustic stability score: Automatically calculates a stability metric based on the variance of the RMS energy, predicting the content type (scores below approx 0.15 indicate steady Music; higher scores suggest dynamic Talk/Sports).
- Frequency fingerprint (Average FFT): Instantly compute and plot the Average Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) magnitude spectrum, revealing characteristic frequency components masked.
