Version 2.1 • The app is now called Sonnounce. It works just like before, and your settings and saved announcements are still there.

Version 2.0 • The app now has the same version number on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Homey. • Now also works on iPhone and iPad with iOS 16, such as the iPad (5th generation). • New button at the top of Help: “Send an email” if you have questions or suggestions. • The speaker list shows only the speaker’s name, even when it’s in a group. • S1 and older speakers: The music comes back even if the app is closed while the announcement is playing. Songs continue exactly where they stopped.

Now for Sonos S1 and older speakers • The app now works with speakers on S1 and with older speakers such as Play:1, which could not be used before. • If a speaker can't play the announcement over the music itself, the music fades out, pauses during the announcement and fades back in afterwards. Songs continue exactly where they stopped, and radio comes straight back. • If you have both an S1 and an S2 system, the app finds the speakers in both – also when you send from away through Homey.

The app is now available in 16 languages and follows the language of your phone. You can choose another one under Settings › Language. If you have a Homey, you can save every announcement sent in the house. They are kept on your own Homey at home – not in the cloud. Switch on "Save announcements" in the Sonos Announcements app on your Homey, and download them under Settings. Announcements can now also be sent over a VPN to your home.

Shortcuts now read your text aloud in the language your phone is set to. Before, German and other languages were read by an English voice. If none of your speakers can play announcements, the app now says so clearly instead of asking you to check your Wi-Fi. Under Settings, About, you can see which speakers it is.
