This update brings two-page reading to iPhone Duo and to iPad in landscape: PDFs, comics and EPUBs sit side by side like an open book, and on iPhone Duo the gutter lands right on the fold. Rotate, fold or unfold — you stay where you were. TWO-PAGE SPREADS ON WIDE SCREENS • PDF: two pages side by side like a book, with the cover on its own • Comics: read in spreads — the cover sits alone on the right, then pages meet in the middle; the page counter shows both pages (e.g. 2–3) • EPUB: in Paged mode, each screen shows two pages side by side • PDFs, comics and EPUBs switch to two pages automatically when iPhone Duo is unfolded or iPad is in landscape; a regular iPhone in landscape isn't tall enough and stays on one page • Prefer one page? Turn off "Two-page spread in landscape" in Reading Settings → Layout & Paging; the switch is now also available for PDFs and comics OPTIMIZED FOR IPHONE DUO • Uses the full inner display when unfolded • In two-page layouts the gutter falls right on the fold — including TXT and Markdown in Paged mode • On the inner display the library uses an even number of columns, with the fold between two of them ROTATE, FOLD OR UNFOLD WITHOUT LOSING YOUR PLACE • After you rotate iPad or fold and unfold iPhone Duo, the text reflows and you stay where you were • TXT and Markdown in Paged mode now keep your paragraph instead of jumping to another page • EPUB keeps the passage you were reading; PDF stays on the same page FIX • Fixed a possible crash in TXT and Markdown in Paged mode when turning from portrait to landscape (or unfolding iPhone Duo) As always: fully offline, no tracking, no ads. This update takes you straight to the exact spot in an EPUB — from the progress bar, the table of contents, bookmarks, highlights and search. PDF and EPUB also get Contents and Highlights buttons right on the bottom bar. Thanks to everyone who sent feedback and suggestions. AN EPUB PROGRESS BAR FOR THE WHOLE BOOK • The bottom slider now covers the whole book, from 0% to 100%. In books whose text sits in just one or two files, it used to have only two or three stops — now you can drag to any point in the book • While you drag, only the percentage changes; the book jumps when you let go • In Paged mode, the bottom bar now shows the page within the current chapter JUMP TO THE EXACT SPOT (EPUB) • Contents: tap a chapter to go right to it. In books that keep all their text in a single file, every chapter used to open at the start of the text. In Paged mode you land on the page where the chapter begins • Bookmarks: a bookmark remembers the paragraph at the top of the screen and takes you back to it; the list shows the opening words of that paragraph • Highlights: tap one in the list to scroll to that passage — the list closes automatically • Search: scrolls to the exact match and briefly highlights the word • Bookmarks and highlights are now listed in reading order • EPUB bookmarks added before this update are kept and open at the start of their chapter; add them again to make them exact CONTENTS & HIGHLIGHTS ON THE BOTTOM BAR • PDF: Contents sits on the left of the page bar and the Highlights list on the right; the Contents button appears when the PDF has a built-in table of contents • EPUB: Contents sits on the left of the bottom bar, and the highlighter menu on the right now includes the Highlights list • The same options are still in the More menu at the top right, so they work even when Immersive reading hides the bottom bar As always: fully offline, no tracking, no ads. This update lets your library take in many more kinds of files — archives, Excel spreadsheets, older Word and PowerPoint files, and Pages, Numbers and Keynote documents — all for free. Importing and reading very large files (even several GB) is also more reliable. IMPORT ZIP & RAR ARCHIVES • Import a ZIP or RAR and every e-book inside is added to your library, up to 50 at a time; books already in your library are skipped • Archives that contain only images are added as comics automatically • Also handles compressed FB2 such as .fb2.zip, plus EPUB, DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files that lost their extension while downloading • Archives now appear when browsing iCloud or WebDAV, too EXCEL SPREADSHEETS (XLSX) • Every worksheet is listed in the table of contents — tap to jump to it • Dates, percentages and thousands separators keep their original formatting, and merged cells look just as they do in Excel • Hidden sheets, rows and columns are skipped; formulas show the values saved with the file • Wide tables scroll sideways, and you can use AI Summary and AI Q&A OLDER WORD & POWERPOINT FILES, PLUS iWORK • DOC, XLS, PPT, PPTX, Pages, Numbers and Keynote files can now be imported and opened • They're shown with the built-in iOS preview in their original layout, and presentations can be browsed slide by slide • These files open in Preview Mode and are view-only: bookmarks, highlights, search, read aloud and AI aren't available, and your reading position isn't saved. For all features, export them as DOCX, XLSX, EPUB or PDF first • The first page becomes the cover automatically, and PPTX files show their title and author MORE RELIABLE WITH LARGE FILES • Imports now run in the background — "Importing…" appears at the bottom of your library, and you can keep using the app while you wait • Importing multi-gigabyte files uses far less memory • If unpacking an EPUB was cut short — for example by low storage — it's unpacked again the next time you open it, so no more missing chapters or images • Pages with lots of images that go blank when memory runs low now reload automatically and return to where you were • If an EPUB can't be opened, you'll see that storage may be low or the file may be damaged • After updating, each existing EPUB is unpacked once more the first time you open it; large books may take a few seconds FIXES • Large PDFs now reopen on the page where you left off instead of the cover, and going back right away no longer resets your progress • Fixed some EPUBs showing tiny text and font size changes not applying accurately • Choosing AI Q&A or Word Explainer right after opening a book no longer opens the summary instead • Fixed AI occasionally replying that no content was provided • Comics (CBZ) compressed on a Mac no longer show pages that can't be displayed As always: fully offline, no tracking, no ads.
