Secchi UAE

Education

Free

To provide meaningful projections of future ocean turbidity changes in the UAE, we are engaging ordinary citizens who use the ocean to measure ocean turbidity with a Secchi disk and submit their measurements to the center's database. The Secchi disk measurement is straightforward and does not need any sort of expertise. The project harnesses the recent, rapid advancements in the accuracy of location-aware smartphones so that everyone who uses the ocean in the UAE can contribute to the research.
