What we love: The handcrafted character animations, inspired by silver screen toons from the 1930s. Whether it’s a carrot-flinging rabbit riding a top hat or a homicidal teapot trying to smash you to bits, each enemy is funnier – and deadlier – than the last.

Quick tip: Watch your six! Most adversaries who reach the bottom of the screen will reappear at the top, but sometimes they’ll reverse course to attack from the rear. And certain bosses – such as feathery fiend Sheriff Hawkeye – will use their special powers to blast you from behind.
