Smoothly Dualcam is a native iOS camera built around a single idea: one take, two deliverable files, different framings. Capture once. DUAL-FRAMING SINGLE-TAKE One shutter tap captures two photo files. One record button captures two video files. Per-layer aspect ratio (9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:3, 2.39:1), per-layer crop offset, per-layer filter chain, per-layer LUT. Smart preset chips ship six starter combos: YouTube + Reels, Cinema + Mobile, Square + Story, Reels A/B, Pano + Detail, Vertical Pair. MULTI-CAM ON SUPPORTED DEVICES On iPhone XS and later with multi-camera capability, record front and back simultaneously in three layouts: Separate (two files), Picture-in-Picture (draggable, four corners + free position), or Split (side by side). Layer role swap, mirror toggle, ProRes single-camera mode with explicit Layer 2 disable notice. FILTER PIPELINE AND COLOR GRADING Seven adjustments per layer in a single Metal shader pass: exposure, white balance trim, contrast, saturation, highlights, shadows, vibrance. Tone curve four-parameter advanced control. Single-pass sharpen with Amount and Threshold. Photographic Looks in three styles: Standard (neutral), Vivid (cinema teal-orange), Natural (warm portrait). 3D LUT SUPPORT Load .cube LUT files (33×33×33 or 17×17×17, Adobe Cube LUT v1.0 spec). Four cinematic LUTs ship with the app: Cinematic Teal-Orange, Portrait Soft, Landscape Vivid, Sunset Warm. Per-layer assignment, raw Metal sampling for accurate trilinear interpolation. PRESET SYSTEM Five built-in starter presets: Cinematic Teal-Orange, Portrait Soft, Landscape Vivid, Black & White High Contrast, Sunset Warm. Save your own. Export and share .cameraproset.json files through the Files app or Share Sheet. Per-layer active preset persisted across launches. PRO OVERLAYS Histogram (luminance and per-channel RGB) with draggable panel. Zebra stripes (high-clip and low-clip thresholds, Pro adjustable). Focus Peaking (Sobel edge detection, five color options). Rule-of-thirds grid. Level indicator (gravity-projected, screen-relative roll, green at ±3°). Every overlay is preview-only — never baked into the recorded file. HDR PIPELINE HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) for multi-cam recording, HEVC Main10 Rec.2020 BT.2100. Apple Log for single-camera ProRes recording on supported iPhones (15 Pro and later). ProRes 422 HQ, 422, and 422 LT variants. ACES filmic tone-mapping in preview. SDR baseline always available. Internal mediainfo validation gate before saving to Photos. MULTI-MIC AUDIO ROUTING Beam routing on supported devices: front, rear, or omnidirectional pickup pattern. Per-layer audio source assignment in Pro use cases. External microphone priority — connect a Lightning or USB-C microphone and it becomes the primary source automatically. ADVANCED FRAMING Vision-based subject tracking (preview-only by default — your recording stays full-frame). Smooth zoom ramp with optional easing. Virtual fusion cameras on supported devices (Triple, Dual Wide, Dual). Free-crop editor. Framing preset library. ADAPTIVE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Thermal pressure monitor with HDR-to-SDR graceful degrade. Disk space and write-speed probe before 4K ProRes or 4K HDR recording. Interruption recovery for phone calls, app backgrounding, and Bluetooth route changes. Stop-recording debounce protects atomic pair-save invariant.
