How much radiation did your last flight expose you to? Find out...
FlightDose is a scientific aviation tool for estimating exposure to cosmic radiation during flight, based on established aerospace radiation modeling principles.
At its core, FlightDose leverages methodologies derived from CARI-7, a widely recognized aviation radiation dose model developed for analyzing radiation exposure at altitude. By combining route geometry with altitude, latitude, geomagnetic shielding, and solar conditions, FlightDose provides informed estimates of in-flight radiation dose in a clear, modern interface.
Cosmic radiation increases rapidly at cruising altitudes and varies significantly by latitude and flight path. FlightDose makes this invisible environmental factor understandable using real aviation physics and data-driven calculations.
What FlightDose does
• Estimates in-flight radiation dose using CARI-7–based modeling concepts
• Accounts for altitude, geographic position, and Earth’s magnetic field
• Supports route-based and flight-based dose estimation
• Presents results clearly without unnecessary complexity
Who it’s for
• Pilots and aircrew
• Frequent flyers
• Aviation professionals and students
• Engineers, researchers, and science-focused travelers
• Anyone curious about estimating radiation dose during flights

FlightDose Premium is here:
• Bulk trip import: dose your whole trip at once, not one flight at a time
• Flight lookup: enter a date and flight number, we fill in the route, altitude and airborne time
• Dose Globe: your career exposure, mapped flight by flight
• No ads
Also in this update: flight time is now part of the calculation. Enter your actual wheels-up-to-wheels-down time, or let us estimate it from distance and winds — either way you can see exactly what your dose was based on.
