Its trading system closely resembles a real-world economy, giving tangible value to your assets. Through Growtopia, it’s easy to learn about asset volatility, market sentiment, the importance of passive income (like buying “buy+” worlds or unready farms and selling them when they’re ready), and spotting unique profit opportunities at the right time (e.g., ghost hunting, fishing with specific gear, or selling fish train quests during carnival events). Beyond that, the game’s social aspects are incredible, fostering meaningful connections. I have nostalgic memories of old friends, and I’ve learned about human nature—how people can be greedy, even those close to you. More importantly, I’ve learned to forgive them, miss them, and recognize their good qualities, while being cautious to avoid past mistakes, like over-trusting.In essence, Growtopia has been a valuable tool for growth, as it could be for others. However, it feels like the developers are currently steering it toward decline.Firstly, many “users” now are just bots spamming casino worlds. This not only overcrowds and lags the server but diminishes the overall experience, which could drive players to quit.Secondly, casinos are turning the game into a gambling app, where players buy diamond locks (DLs) with real money, stripping in-game assets of their true value. For gamblers, 50 DLs might just be a few bucks, but for actual players, they represent hours of hard work. This loss of value is another reason players might leave.Thirdly, the main reason I took the time to write this review: I tried logging into Growtopia and was greeted with a frustrating, ugly login form, even though I had just logged in the day before. The new UI is terrible. Initially, I thought it was a good idea to make logging in easier with Google, but it doesn’t even work that way. The original login experience was great—simple, with GrowIDs only required if necessary. Now, legacy accounts must enter account details every time, and session persistence seems broken.At this point, playing Growtopia—and even trying to grow through it—feels impossible. Most players now are occasional gamblers who once engaged deeply with the game but can’t find enough other dedicated players to enjoy it with. And with assets losing their worth, it doesn’t seem worth the effort.It’s likely that, given the current state, there’s little incentive for developers to make meaningful improvements to Growtopia.
