This update makes the app more dependable, especially on a slow phone or a weak connection. * Downloads now stay in place when the app updates. * You stay signed in: a slow phone or a weak connection no longer signs you out, or shows you as a guest while the app starts. * Signing out works even without a connection. * On a weak connection, screens show a message you can retry instead of waiting forever. * Sign-in codes: ask again within a minute and the app tells you a code was just sent, so the first code keeps working. A check also catches common typos, such as gmai.com. * A download that cannot finish now says why. Free, no ads, from a nonprofit.

Recording no longer stops when your iPhone's screen goes dark. In the version you have now, locking your phone during a recording silences it. The recording looks the right length and there is no sound in it. A lesson cannot be sung a second time, so that was the most important thing in this app to put right, and it is fixed. A real recorder, not a start and stop button: * Pause and carry on * Listen back to what you just recorded without losing the rest of the take. It keeps playing if you switch apps or lock your phone * Rewind and record over the part you got wrong. You are told exactly how much you are about to replace before it happens * Drop a marker at any moment you want to find again, and move it afterwards * Record up to two hours. The recorder stops itself at the cap and tells you, so nothing is refused after the fact * If a crash or a flat battery interrupts a recording, everything up to your last pause, or the last four minute mark, is offered back to you the next time you open the recorder While you record, the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island show the recording: Vedic Studies, which recorder is open, and the time, counting. Pause freezes it. Tap it to come straight back. Scripts: * Photograph a page of your book, paste the text, or add a PDF * Read in landscape, at the size you want * Tap an akshara to mark its svara * Mark word splits and write notes on a line * Export what you have marked up as a PDF Also in this release: * Fixed a problem that could sign you out after listening or recording with your iPhone locked * Fixed a problem that could show you as a guest when your connection was slow * Many repairs to the ways a recording, or a chant you submitted, could quietly be lost Free, no ads, from a nonprofit.

Vedic Studies v29.2: My Own Lessons The place where you keep your own chanting is now called My Own Lessons, not My Practice. Your recordings, folders, and notes are all where you left them, under the new name. Open the Library tab and tap My Own Lessons. Free, with no advertising, from a nonprofit.

Vedic Studies v29: My Practice You can now record yourself chanting and keep those recordings in the app to work on. A recording is private to you. It is never shared with anyone, never published, and never attached to anything public. We do not listen to them, and they are not used to train anything. Deleting a recording removes it; deleting your account removes all of them. Recording * Record a chant, up to two hours, and play it back * A live wave under the timer moves while the microphone is hearing you and lies flat when it is not. If nothing moves after you tap Record, the microphone is muted, covered, or not allowed, and the screen says so * Works with no signal. Recordings upload themselves when you are back online * Import a recording you already made elsewhere Working on a take * Loop a difficult section and slow it down until it settles * Mark the phrases you want to work on, and see them on a heat map * Keep private notes against a recording Folders * If you are learning a long work, keep its recordings together. Make a folder, name it after what you are learning, and arrange the recordings in the order you want to hear them * Record from inside a folder and the take is filed there as you save it. From outside, the app asks where to keep it * Deleting a folder never deletes a recording. The recordings go back to All Recordings A calmer Library The Library screen carries less. The seven sections are still there, and My Practice opens onto a short card of your folders with a single Record button, instead of rows of controls above each recording. On a shared phone Signing out clears practice audio from that device, so the next person cannot find your recordings. Anything still waiting to upload is sent first, and the app tells you if something has not finished. Also in this release * Chant text you paste now splits into proper verse lines instead of arriving as one long run, and text read from a PDF no longer comes back with the words joined together * Fixes to playlists updating after an add, resume position picking the newer one, and several sign-out cases on a shared device * A recording filed, renamed, or annotated while it was still uploading now reaches your account correctly Free, with no advertising, from a nonprofit.

Vedic Students is now Vedic Studies. Since the last update, everything has been rebuilt: the app, the player, and the library behind it. What you can do now: * Listen to the same chant three ways: Learn repeats after the teacher, Understand explains it, Listen plays the full rendition. * Add a chant's text from a link, a paste or a PDF and read along full screen. Vedic svara marks are drawn as marks, exactly as printed. * Split sandhi into its words and keep private study notes on any line. * Download chants and listen with no signal at all. * Repeat a chant 108 or 1008 times with an honest counter: only full recitations count. * See which parts of a chant you have truly heard, not just how far you scrubbed. * The daily panchanga for your own city, drawn from printed almanacs, with any day shareable as a picture. * Playlists, bookmarked moments, and your place kept across devices. * A light theme and a warm dark theme for evening practice. Free, with no ads and nothing to buy, from a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Corrections to any text are genuinely welcome: write to contact@vedicstudies.org.
