What's new in this version of Newsbin Newsbin 2.3 is all about organizing. Rearrange your sidebar with drag and drop, select several feeds and folders at once, give folders their own icon and color, and remap every keyboard shortcut to match the reader you came from. Folders, made easy - Give any folder its own SF Symbol or emoji and a color — synced across all your devices, and included in backups. - File feeds into folders from any menu, with nested destinations shown as full "Parent > Child" paths. - Create a new folder right where you need it: at the top level, or beside an item and move it in at the same time. - Drag folders themselves to re-parent them or drop them back to the root. - Re-importing an OPML now adopts your existing folders and keeps their icons, colors, and order instead of overwriting them. Select several at once - Choose multiple feeds and folders together, then move, refresh, mark as read, or delete them in one go. - Selected rows in a run join into a single continuous highlight, and dragging a selection shows a stacked multi-item preview. - The title shows "N Selected" with a combined unread count, and the article list shows every selected feed together. - Batch delete confirms first, expands folders recursively, and cleans up properly afterward. Shortcuts, your way (Mac and iPad) - A new Shortcuts panel in Settings lets you rebind every command — press to record, Esc to cancel, Backspace to unassign. - Start from a template: Feedbin, Feedly, Inoreader, NetNewsWire, or Reeder. - Your shortcut setup syncs across your devices. - New bindings for Mark list as read and Select all, plus Clear reads, Archive all, and Export OPML available to assign. Also new - Custom AI providers now fetch their own model list, so you can pick a model instead of typing its name. - More reader font sizes, and the size setting now scales every part of the article. Font size is per-device now, like the system text size. - Top-level sidebar icons are slightly larger than nested ones, giving the hierarchy a clearer shape. Reading improvements - The list returns to the top after clearing reads instead of leaving you at the bottom. - Breaking News cards hold their position instead of reshuffling as new articles land. - Cleaner articles: author-bio cards, duplicate bylines, "Follow us on Google News" promos, and oversized YouTube embed placeholders are stripped. - Articles that previously lost their lead image, or fell back to a stripped-down view, now render properly on more sites. - Fixed broken YouTube videos in the reader. - Dismissing the in-app browser now returns you to the article you were reading rather than the list. - Smoother scrolling: auto-read no longer recalculates on every frame. Self-hosted AI - Plaintext endpoints reached over a VPN now work: Tailscale (ts.net) hostnames, home.arpa, .internal, and private or carrier-grade NAT addresses reached through a tunnel. Fixes - Fixed articles reverting to unread when switching tabs. - Fixed reader font size having no effect on macOS. - Fixed a long-standing cause of feeds gradually disappearing: a device left unused for a while could wake up and broadcast its stale state to the rest of your devices. Dormant devices no longer propagate deletions or overwrite newer folder assignments. - Fixed memory crashes on very large libraries when saving sync state, and cleaned up stale records that had no way to be evicted. - Hardened the reader against malicious feed content, and feed connections now prefer HTTPS. - Fixed Newsbin failing to quit its previous copy on macOS when relaunched. - Non-square feed icons now fit rather than being cropped. - Numerous smaller stability and layout fixes.
