Velastar is an immersive stargazing and sky exploration app for iPhone and iPad. Using your observing location, date and time, and device orientation, Velastar calculates the sky above you in real time. Raise your device to identify stars, constellations, planets, the Sun, and the Moon—or travel across time and experience the sky from Earth, the Moon, Mars, and Europa. Adjust the year, month, day, hour, and minute, or play the movement of the sky continuously. Earth’s sky can be visually explored from 999 BCE to 3000 CE. Historical and far-future views are visual simulations for learning and exploration. They are not intended for precision research or navigation. TRAVEL BEYOND EARTH Explore an interactive 3D Solar System, inspect planets and moons, change simulation speed, and land on explorable worlds. • See Earth hanging in the Moon’s black sky • Search for Phobos and Deimos from Mars • Stand on Europa beneath enormous Jupiter • View Mars Sol Date and local mean solar time on other worlds OBSERVING AND PHOTOGRAPHY TOOLS • Light Pollution Map: estimate skyglow using offline satellite light data • Milky Way Planner: check the Galactic Center’s direction, altitude, moonlight, and photography windows • Day–Night Map and World Clock: explore the terminator and local times worldwide • Immersive Landscapes: plan the horizon and composition with different environments Light-pollution levels are estimates, not on-site SQM measurements.
