Porthole brings Screen Sharing for Mac to your iPhone and iPad.
Easy to set up: Porthole walks you through turning on Screen Sharing on your Mac, step by step, then finds your Mac on your Wi‑Fi.
Sign in with your Mac account, just like Screen Sharing on another Mac, and control your Mac with familiar gestures: drag to move the pointer, tap to click, two fingers to right-click and scroll, pinch to zoom. Prefer to tap exactly where you want to click? Switch to Direct Touch any time.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Porthole collects no data. No analytics, no ads, no accounts.
• It connects only to the Macs you add, directly, with no relay in between.
• Passwords are asked for each time unless you choose to save them. Saved passwords stay in this device’s Keychain and are never backed up or synced.
• Face ID or Touch ID protects the app every time you open it, and your Mac’s screen never appears in the app switcher.
BUILT FOR USE ANYWHERE
• Away from home, connect through a free VPN: WireGuard on your own home router, so nothing passes through anyone else’s servers, or Tailscale, the easiest to set up. Porthole shows you how, step by step. An SSH tunnel works too.
• Porthole won’t connect directly to a public address, so your screen and typing aren’t sent across the internet unprotected.
• Forgot to turn on your VPN? Porthole tells you right away instead of timing out.
• Automatic quality adapts to your connection, from home Wi-Fi to hotel Wi-Fi, and signal bars show how it’s doing.
• Leave the app and come back, and Porthole reconnects on its own.
FILES ON YOUR MAC
• Browse your Mac’s folders, download files to share or save, and send files from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac. Uses Remote Login on your Mac over the same private connection.
MORE THAN ONE DISPLAY
• Mac with more than one display? See them all at once, or pick one to fill your screen. Porthole finds your displays automatically and remembers your choice for each Mac.
MADE FOR iPHONE AND iPAD
• A keyboard bar with Command, Option, Control, Shift, Escape, Tab and arrow keys, plus F1–F12, Delete, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down.
• Full support for hardware keyboards, mice and trackpads on iPad, including keyboard shortcuts.
• Paste text from your iPhone or iPad straight into your Mac.
• Connect a monitor or TV and your Mac fills the big screen while your iPhone or iPad becomes the trackpad.
• “Connect to Mac mini with Porthole” with Siri, Shortcuts or Spotlight, or from a widget or Control Center. Porthole always asks for Face ID first.
• Macs with Screen Sharing on your network appear automatically.
• Dark Mode and Dynamic Type.
Requires a Mac with Screen Sharing turned on. At home, Porthole works over your Wi‑Fi. Away from home, you’ll need a VPN, such as WireGuard on your home router or Tailscale; both are free, and Porthole shows you how. Files requires Remote Login.
