Nudge Energy is designed for major energy users in the industrial and commercial sectors, primarily to be used to improve the management of energy use, costs and associated carbon dioxide emissions.
In addition to energy, Nudge Energy can be used for process performance improvement, asset management, safety, environmental management and auditing.
Actions and insights, or ‘nudges’, are created automatically from the analysis and interpretation of real time data, and directly by users. The ‘nudges’ are delivered to the Nudge Energy app to encourage the user to take action to reduce energy use, or to provide other relevant performance information.
The ‘nudges’ are specific to the user and the user’s location which is detected using pre-installed beacons that communicate with the user’s device using Bluetooth.
The Nudge Energy app works in conjunction with existing energy management information systems, building management systems and process monitoring and control systems, or independently with new data collection systems.
The ‘Nudge a Friend’ feature allows users to leave messages for colleagues to be delivered at specific locations, providing a social element to the app but also supports awareness raising campaigns.
The Nudge Energy app requires the user, or the user’s company, to subscribe to a ‘nudge’ generation and management service. Managers are able to analyse the nudges and user responses to understand whether actions are being taken to reduce energy use. Users can access historic nudges via a web page.
As well as providing real time insights, actions and dashboards to help industrial and commercial companies manage energy use and costs, Nudge Energy can also be used to inform stakeholders about company performance.
It can be deployed effectively as part of an ISO 50001 energy management programme.
