One Line: Notes That Sort

Type one line. That's the whole system.
Most notes apps die the same way: organizing them becomes the work. Folders, projects, boards, tag syntax — a filing system you have to maintain before you're allowed to write anything down.
One Line has none of that. You type a line and it files itself — "buy milk" becomes a to-do, "dentist tomorrow at 3pm" becomes an event with a reminder, and everything else stays a note. If it reads a line wrong, one tap changes it, and it remembers the correction.
■ Notes, tasks, and events in one stream
Not three apps. Not three tabs you keep forgetting to open. One place you actually write to, with a Today view for what's in front of you and a calendar for what's coming.
■ Nothing leaves your device unless you ask
No account is needed to use the app. Your writing is stored on your iPhone, and the app reads and sorts it on the device itself — nothing is sent anywhere to be processed. No ads, no tracking, no advertising identifier. Airplane mode changes nothing.
Turn on Cloud sync and you sign in with Apple or Google; only then is anything you write stored on our servers. The separate, opt-in usage stats send counts of which features you used, once a week, plus a crash report if the app quits on you — never your notes.
Turn on link previews and the request goes straight to that site — never through us, and we never learn what you looked at. It is off until you turn it on.
■ You don't have to open the app
· A Home Screen widget shows today at a glance
· Tap the widget once to capture straight into the app
· Share from Safari and the page title and article are saved with it — add "todo read tomorrow" while sharing and it becomes a task for tomorrow
· Share text or a screenshot from any other app and it's saved
· Due dates and events arrive as notifications
■ Gets in without typing (Pro)
· Share a screenshot and the text on it becomes a note — menus and status bars stripped, dates, phone numbers and amounts pinned to the top
· Snap a photo or a document and the text inside is read
· Record a voice memo and it is transcribed
· Long articles shared from Safari can be summarized in a few lines (Apple Intelligence devices)
· The reading happens on this device. Photos and voice are never sent anywhere to be read
■ Free, and actually complete
· Unlimited notes, tasks, and events
· Natural-language dates in English and Korean — "dentist tomorrow 3pm", "report by friday", "every monday gym"
· Sync across your devices — sign in and pick up where you left off. Photos, recordings and attachments come along too, up to 5 GB
· Today view, calendar, notifications, widgets
· Export a backup file and restore from it · Export everything as Markdown files
No item caps. No ads. No trial that runs out.
■ One Line Pro
· Yearly, with a discounted first year
· Monthly
· Lifetime — a launch price. Pay once and keep every Pro feature, including the ones that come later
· Gets in without typing — Text from photos · Transcription · Article summary (Apple Intelligence devices)
· Search what piled up — Semantic search: find "that hospital thing last month" without remembering the exact words
· Keep it on your Home Screen — Pinned note widget
Prices are shown in your local currency on the App Store. Cancel any time. Everything stays on your device.

Más A small polish update.
To-dos you save without a date no longer get "today" as a silent deadline. A due date is set only when you pick one or write it in the line; everything else stays on Today with no deadline.
Long-press the date chip to clear a date and time you set.
Fixed: scanning the "Log in with the One Line app" QR on the web with the iPhone camera opened the app but never showed the number to confirm.
1.8.3 hace 1 día
A small polish update.
Routine cards on Today now line up by today's time — your 7 am pills come before your 6 pm workout. Routines without a time come after.
When you remove a photo or recording from a note, or empty the trash, the copy stored in the cloud is deleted too. Items in the trash keep their files so you can restore them.
1.8.2 hace 6 días
New to-dos now land at the top.
Today's to-dos are now ordered by most recent, so you don't have to look for what you just wrote.
Prefer deadlines first? Tap "Most recent" next to Today's to-dos and choose "By urgency". Your choice is remembered, and pinned to-dos stay on top either way.
1.8.1 5 oct
Sign in on the web with this app.
Open oneline.date on your computer and scan its QR with your iPhone camera — One Line opens. Pick the number shown on the computer and the web signs in to the same account as this app, so you never end up with an empty second account.
To-dos dated later always show in the Upcoming section at the bottom of Today. It no longer collapses; long lists open with "Show more".
The Today list no longer shifts sideways.
To-dos made from a photo now take the photo's first line as their title instead of something like "Date: (Wed)".
Photos upload with a small copy too, so the web's attachment screen loads faster.
Markdown export now writes each note's title line as "# Title".
1.8.0 1 oct
A polish update.
Times without AM or PM from 1 to 7 are now read as afternoon or evening, in Korean too — "일곱시 반 저녁" is 7:30 in the evening. Write "아침 7시" or "7am" for the morning.
Tags the app adds now go on their own line at the end of the note instead of being tacked onto the title, so titles no longer wrap because of them.
The five buttons at the bottom of an open note are now the same size.
1.7.9 29 sep
Photos and recordings now sync for free.
Photos, recordings and files you attach now go to your other devices and the web for everyone, up to 5 GB. This used to be Pro only. Lifetime goes from 2 GB to 5 GB as well.
Photos you attached earlier that never made it across are uploaded on their own when you open the app.
The Notes list has new button positions: pin and archive on the left, edit and delete on the right, so archive and delete are no longer side by side.
Tags now sit right under the text, and the four buttons are the same size.
1.7.8 26 sep
The screen now tells you where things went.
What you save goes to its place. A to-do rises into today's list; a note's first few words fly into the Notes tab. No more wondering where a note went when it didn't show up on Today.
Attach a photo and a light sweeps across it while the app reads, then the tidied text arrives line by line. If a date is found, the date chip lights up briefly so you can see what was picked up.
Tap "Done today" on a routine card and a check is drawn, the card slides away and the next one moves up. "Skip today" sinks back instead, so the two read differently.
Tap a note and its row grows into the note; close it and it shrinks back into place.
Nothing bounces, and a second tap mid-motion carries on instead of restarting. With Reduce Motion on, all of it is off.
Tap the Notes tab again while you're on it to clear tags and search and return to All.
Fixed: the app no longer erases attachment types added from the web that it doesn't know yet.
1.7.7 25 sep
A photo is enough.
Attach one and the app reads the text inside, strips the screen furniture, and writes the tidied version straight into the note. That tidying used to happen only if you opened a sheet, picked a tab and pressed a button.
If there's a date in it, the date chip is filled in too — a receipt, an invite or a ticket becomes a to-do on its own. What was filled in is visible, so you can correct it on the spot.
Tidied text now lands as ordinary body text instead of a grey code block. The original stays with the attachment, and "tidy and add" still lets you choose raw, tidied or a summary.
Recordings are tidied as well: filler words and back-to-back repeats are removed, and each sentence gets its own line.
The writing screen is now different for each kind.
Pick To-do, Routine or Note. Routines never had a screen of their own — you had to write a to-do and press the repeat chip.
Choose Routine and Every day / Weekdays / Weekly / Monthly appear right there, with a preview of how the card will look on Today.
Notes no longer carry date and time chips. They looked exactly like a to-do's due chip while meaning something else entirely.
The first screen now shows that a photo lands in the same places a typed line does.
1.7.6 25 sep
Work on the routine card, the daily briefings, and the first screen you see.
The routine card now has two buttons across the bottom, split evenly like the action row on a notification — Skip today on the left, Done today on the right.
Fixed a routine's time not showing in the top corner of its card. A routine written for 10:00 every day had that spot sitting empty.
Fixed a card showing two times that disagreed. The large number is when it happens; the line underneath is when you're reminded.
In the Calendar, a day's list now runs routines, then to-dos, then notes. Repeating items always sat at the bottom no matter what they were.
The evening briefing names what's left. Instead of "3 left", it reads "3 left: Report +2 more". If you have something first thing tomorrow, it says so.
On Monday morning you get the week ahead first — once, at the start of the week, so it isn't the same sentence every day.
The first screen now shows where a line lands: the Notes tab, today's list, or the Today card.
"Write a line" from Siri and Search now tells you where to find what it saved. A line filed as a note isn't on the Today screen, which made it look like nothing was saved.
1.7.5 22 sep
The blue card on Today has one meaning now.
It holds only things that repeat — the pill you take every day, the Monday meeting. The heading says "Routines" instead of "Events", which was never quite true: to-dos were sitting in there too.
Anything you do once goes to the to-do list, even with a time on it. "Dentist at 3" is a to-do with a time, and it sorts to the top of the list by the clock. You no longer have to decide whether something is a task or an event while you're writing it.
The card tells you its own rule. "Every day at 9:00 AM" is written right there — you used to have to open the editor to find out what you'd set.
Skip today. It steps over today only and leaves the rule alone: it isn't recorded as done, it comes back tomorrow, and no reminder fires on the day you skipped.
The repeat control moved to the front of the chip row. It used to sit at the far end, off screen entirely on smaller phones.
1.7.4 21 sep
The photo viewer is rebuilt. And you can attach videos now.
Pinch to zoom and the spot under your fingers is what grows. It used to always zoom the center of the screen, so you had to drag back to whatever you were looking at.
Panning stays inside the photo, and it glides to a stop when you let go. You can no longer push a photo off screen and be left with black.
Double-tap zooms in on the spot you tapped.
Large photos open without the stutter — only what the screen needs is decoded.
Videos can be attached. Pick one from your library or bring it in from Files: it opens in the same place with the same gestures as a photo, and starts playing. Lists and the gallery show its first frame.
Large videos are shrunk once on the way in. If one is still over 100MB and can't travel to your other devices, we say so right there.
Opening an attachment whose file has gone missing now tells you what happened instead of spinning forever.
1.7.3 20 sep
Three fixes.
When a single-letter weekday was followed by a word — "every Fri planning review" in Korean — the first letter of that word was read as another weekday, and the title lost its head. Fixed.
Swiping the Notes list sideways to move between tags did nothing when the swipe was short. A quick flick now moves it.
In the same place, reading down the list with a slightly angled finger could switch tags. It no longer does.
1.7.1 20 sep
Routines. Pick daily, weekdays, weekends, or particular days, and the routine stands on Today each of those days. Finish it and only that day's copy goes; it returns tomorrow.
Trash. Deleted notes stay for 14 days, in the same trash the web uses — delete on your phone, restore from either side.
Tags attach themselves when you save. Two or three words from the note go at the end of the text. Delete any you don't want, the way you'd delete text. All the reading happens on your device, and you can turn it off in Settings.
The Notes tab lists notes only; to-dos and events live on Today and in the Calendar. The tag row is ordered by how often you use each tag, and you can choose which tags stay on the row. Swipe the list sideways to move between tags.
Better one-line reading:
· several weekdays at once ("every Mon Wed Fri")
· deadlines that end in a noun no longer fall through as notes
· "the 1st of next month", "end of month", travel time
· a bare 1–6 o'clock now means the afternoon
Repeating events used to appear only once, on their first date. They now stand on every occurrence.
Sundays, Saturdays and holidays are distinguishable in the Calendar again.
Mornings open with the day's times; evenings start with what you finished. If you've been away a while, we point at one small thing you wrote down.
In a note, the things you can do — pin, archive, copy, edit, delete — are gathered into one row.
Three places that clipped or overflowed at large text sizes are fixed.
1.7 19 sep
■ Undo actually undoes now
The "Undo" button sat right there and did nothing — taps were falling straight through it to the screen below. Fixed. It brings the note back.
You can also delete from the editor itself, instead of saving, leaving, and hunting for it in the list.
■ Writing no longer vanishes without asking
Leaving the editor used to discard what you had typed. Now it asks.
■ Deleted events kept ringing
Reminders for events you had deleted or archived stayed scheduled and went off anyway. Same for ones you had finished. All three are fixed.
Lock screen notifications also showed over a hundred characters of the note body. Now it's the title and the time.
■ Photos come in without their location
The privacy policy says photo location is never stored, but photos picked from the Files app or sent in through the share sheet arrived as originals — location included.
Now every path strips it on the way in. Format, quality, orientation, and capture time stay exactly as they were.
■ Deleting your account really deletes everything
Some copies survived on the server. Now it's removed at the root.
■ Finding a tag when you have a lot of them
Past twelve tags, an entrance appears at the end of the tag row. Tags are listed most-used first, and a few letters narrow them down. Pick one and the tag row follows you there.
Search or filter by tag and the count now sits at the top of the list.
■ It doesn't slow down when things pile up
With a thousand notes and a few hundred events in one day, Today drew no text at all — it was building every event at once.
Now it stands up the first few and hands the rest to the calendar. The notes list, which re-sorted everything on every redraw, does it once.
■ At larger text sizes
The four icons at the end of a note row stayed their original size while everything around them grew. Now they grow too, and at accessibility sizes the long-press menu takes over with real names. The tap areas are wider as well — fewer trips to the trash when you meant to archive.
■ The calendar shows how full a day is
One dot meant "something happened." Now it counts up to three, so a quiet day and a packed one look different at a glance.
■ Images placed inline on the web show up inline here
Drop a photo into the middle of a note on the web and the app draws it in that spot.
■ The weekly review sticks to the facts
It sometimes wrote that an unfinished task was done. The app now counts what was finished and what's left; the model only picks the week's topics.
■ Fixed
· Blue text blending into the background in Dark Mode.
· The header bar being cut off under the status bar when editing an existing note.
· Kind names staying in Korean when the app was set to English.
· The big number on Today being repeated on the line right below it.
· On day one, a tip explaining how to write the event you had just written.
· The same event appearing twice on one screen.
· Text sliced in half at the top of the calendar's day list.
· Removing an attachment not reaching your other devices — in both directions.
· One of two same-named photos disappearing on Markdown export.
■ Crash reports (only if you want them)
When the app quit unexpectedly, we had no way of knowing. Turn on "Send anonymous usage statistics" in Settings and reports go out then, and only then. It's off by default, and turning it off deletes anything not yet sent.
1.6 18 sep
■ See what a screenshot becomes, before it becomes it
Tapping "file it" used to just make notes. You found out what you got after they appeared, and undoing it meant deleting them.
Now there is one stop before that. You see the photo and the text that was read from it, and for a single shot you can fix the title and body right there. For several, you choose one note or one each — grouped is picked for you to start with.
Reading the text happens entirely on this device.
■ Tags that write themselves
Turn it on in Settings and each note is read as it is saved, and a fitting tag is added at the end. It only picks from tags you already use, never invents new ones, and adds nothing when it isn't sure.
If you don't like it, delete it like any other text.
■ See what you saved
Share an article or an Instagram post into One Line and all you got was a blue address. In the list, there was no telling what it had been.
Now, open the note and a card stands there with the title and the picture. Turn it on in Settings; the request goes straight to that site and never through us.
■ Fold a long note
Tap a "## heading" while reading and everything under it folds away, with a count of the lines now hidden. It stays folded until you open it again.
■ Look through, not down
Switch the Notes tab to a grid and the first photo becomes the cover. Notes without a photo get their opening lines as a cover instead, so nothing disappears from view.
■ Apple and Google, one account
In Settings > Account, link the sign-in method you haven't used yet, and from then on you see the same notes either way. If that account already holds someone else's notes, the app says so and changes nothing.
■ A weekly look back
Once a week, on the day you choose, and only when there is something from that week. Ignore it a few times and it comes less often; keep ignoring it and it turns itself off.
■ Closer to hand
· Photo and voice moved to the front of the toolbar. They were behind nine formatting buttons, out of reach without scrolling.
· A clear button in the search field and the title field.
· "Upcoming" on Today starts open, so a day with nothing due no longer looks empty.
■ Fixed
· The blue flash on every cold launch is gone.
· In Dark Mode the status bar text blended into the background.
· The title row in the editor could sit under the camera area.
· A screen-covering notice did not cover it for VoiceOver, so buttons behind it could still be pressed.
· You can now redeem a promo code from the Pro screen.
· With the app set to English, one block of Settings — the automatic-tagging switch and everything under it — was still showing Korean.
1.5 10 sep
■ Copy a phrase while you read
Open a note, press and hold the part you want, then drag the handles to take exactly that much. The whole paragraph no longer comes with it. The copy button at the top still takes the entire note.
■ When the same note is edited in two places
**If the web or another device saved the same note while you were editing on your phone, we tell you before saving.** You choose whether to save anyway or reload, and what you were writing stays put either way.
Before this, whoever saved last quietly overwrote the other. Twenty minutes of writing should not disappear without a word.
■ Fixed
· The Pro screen listed a feature that does not run in Korean. It now reads correctly in each language.
· Some notices used a color that did not adapt to Dark Mode.
· At larger text sizes the next-event title on Today was cut to a few characters. It now wraps and stays readable.
· Photo thumbnails in Attachments showed only a thin strip of the middle, so you could not tell what they were. They are square now.
· Markdown export wrote Korean filenames in a form that came apart on other systems.
· Small spacing and icon cleanups across Settings and Account.

To-dos you save without a date no longer get "today" as a silent deadline. A due date is set only when you pick one or write it in the line; everything else stays on Today with no deadline.

Fixed: scanning the "Log in with the One Line app" QR on the web with the iPhone camera opened the app but never showed the number to confirm.
