This release is all about how Pika's window behaves. You can now control the window's shadow — keep it, hide it only while picking, or turn it off entirely so it can't bleed into the colours you pick nearby — and Pika can shrink far smaller than before, adapting what it shows as it gets compact. New features - Window shadow control — A new Window Settings option to show the shadow, hide it only while picking, or hide it entirely, so it can't skew colours picked near the window. When set to hide while picking, the shadow smoothly fades out as you pick and back when you're done, and softens when the window isn't focused. When off, a subtle hairline border keeps the window edge defined. - Adaptive window sizing — Pika now shrinks much smaller and gracefully sheds elements as it gets compact (palettes, contrast, colour preview, labels), with a floating Expand to fit button to bring everything back. Updates and bug fixes - Two-line colour values — Long values now scale down smoothly to stay on two lines as the window narrows. - Clearer, steadier footer — Shortened contrast labels keep the footer compact; it keeps the contrast ratio visible at narrow widths and tucks away just the compliance badges. - Light mode polish — More defined footer and palette panels, consistent section dividers, and general light-mode refinements. - Fully localised — The new window-shadow settings and shortened contrast labels are translated across German, Spanish, French, Croatian, Japanese, Polish, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. - Fixed — The window outline and shadow no longer stretch and detach from the window when you drag Pika to the top of the screen. - Fixed — The Preferences header animation no longer disappears when changing a dropdown. - Fixed — Truncated labels in the Preferences compliance previews.

Pika 1.8.0 introduces a new menu bar popover mode, contrast picking with support for both the WCAG and APCA standards at once, and a redesigned Liquid Glass app icon for macOS's latest look — along with a handful of palette and window quality-of-life fixes. Japanese localization — Pika now supports 日本語, bringing the total to 9 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Croatian, Japanese, Polish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. This one's a big one! Pika now supports named palettes, so you can save, rename, and switch between colour collections with a tab bar and keyboard shortcuts. There's also a brand new colour preview pill — a little floating "Aa" that shows your foreground colour on your background colour. Toggle it with P! Color history has arrived. Every pair of colors you pick is now saved in a fancy scrolling drawer — just tap any chip to instantly restore both colors. Right-click for even more power: apply just the foreground, just the background, swap and apply, or clear your history entirely. The active chip even glows when your live eyedroppers match a saved entry. Everyone wins. I also completely rebuilt the URL scheme. There are now 12 pika:// triggers for setting colors, controlling the history drawer, opening windows, resizing, and forcing light or dark appearance — perfect for power users, automation nerds, and Shortcuts enthusiasts. A brand new Help view puts every keyboard shortcut, copy format, and URL trigger in one place. No more guessing. Oh, and I fixed a sneaky color accuracy bug where picked colors could drift by 1–3 values per channel depending on your display profile. Your colors are now pixel-perfect, every time. Also new: OKLCH and LAB values no longer pad with trailing zeros. Pika now surfaces in Spotlight. The status bar menu got a full keyboard shortcut overhaul. Chinese localization is fully up to date. The latest version of Pika introduces a new feature that provides visual confirmation when you pick a color. It's been a minute, but I am very amped about this release. 1.1.0 introduces four major feature enhancements that make Pika significantly better.
