Welcome to the ProGRANT App! – a mobile application software that has been developed to provide sustainable access to proposal writing knowledge and expertise in a gamified way. For the adventure you can select one out of six avatars – your loyal companion on your way to the funding. The game has 6 levels. On each level you will have to answer one or more questions. You will have to answer each, and every question correctly to reach the next level and to finally get your third-party fund. This ProGRANT App is a vital and integral part of the DIES ProGRANT Proposal Writing for Research Grants, that is not only the international flagship project of the “Global Responsibility” unit, but also the expression and manifestation of how we consider “Sustainable Internationalization”. Being more than two individual terms on its own and going hand in hand, they represent our unit’s core values that include lifelong, blended, and intercultural learning, based on fruitful international cooperation and exchange at eye level. The aim of ProGRANT Proposal Writing for Research Grants is to enable researchers and PhD holders from countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia to develop proposal writing skills according to international standards and to design, write and budget a promising proposal for national and international research funding. DIES ProGRANT is an effective tool for enhancing academic capacity building and for promoting international research cooperation. DIES ProGRANT fully complies with our “Global Responsibility” unit that has been launched by the International Office of the University of Cologne aiming at facilitating and fostering its partnerships with other universities and higher education institutions (HEIs). The idea of the unit correlates directly with our holistic concept of "Global Responsibility", which has been further developed for forward-looking minds, who recognize the signs of the time and the pitfalls, traditional internationalization of higher education often includes. "Global Responsibility" recognizes the new and active role HEIs should assume as global knowledge carriers shaping globalization and delivering reliable, interdisciplinary, and responsible answers to global questions - even more in times of Climate Change and Covid-19. To follow a global strategy and to face today's global challenges, "Global Responsibility" includes not only all faculties, disciplines, research, and teaching of a university, but also its students, researchers, and staff. By making this app available for ProGRANT participants and grant writing enthusiasts, we can live up to our own claim of being responsible and sustainable in our internationalization efforts. We hope that this learning app will have an added value for our training participants and users. Enjoy the app and have fun!
