Find in the document. Tap the magnifier at the end of the toolbar and a search bar appears over the document — one row tall, with the text still readable behind it. Type a word, press Return, and every occurrence lights up, with the one you are on marked in a stronger colour. The arrows (or Return and ⇧Return) step through them in a loop beside a counter, and the document scrolls to each one. Esc closes the bar and clears the highlights. On an iPad with a hardware keyboard, ⌘F opens it. Upper or lower case makes no difference, and it searches Hebrew exactly as it searches English. The highlighting is drawn on screen only. It never becomes part of the file, it does not move your cursor or lose the text you had selected, and searching leaves the document exactly as it was. Free, offline, no account.

quickMD is now PureOpen. Same app, same developer, same files — a new name. The old one turned out to be shared with several other products, including another Markdown app on the store, and that is not a good thing for anyone trying to find the right one. Nothing about how the app works has changed, and your documents are untouched. Printing, and export to PDF. Print the document straight from the app, or send it to a PDF file. Both give you the same page: the document as the editor renders it — headings, tables, task lists, code blocks, Hebrew and English side by side — without the tabs and the toolbar around them. Nothing is rendered a second time for paper, so what comes out is what you were looking at. The printer button in the tab strip prints. The button next to it exports: choose where the PDF goes, and it is written. The page is always light, even when the app is in dark mode, and pages break between lines rather than through them. Tables, links, and safer sync. A Markdown table now renders as a real table you can edit cell by cell, and a new toolbar button inserts one. Tab moves to the next cell and adds a row at the end of the table. Links are fixed. A link used to lose its address when the file was saved — it kept the words and dropped the destination. Links now display as links and keep their target, including the title text and links inside a table cell. Tap a link to open it. Editing the same file on two devices is safe. A save no longer overwrites work that arrived from another device: if the file changed underneath, that version is kept beside yours and quickMD tells you where it went. A file iCloud has removed from this device is downloaded and opened rather than reported missing. Your file is treated with the same care as before: column alignment markers survive a save, a pipe typed inside a cell is escaped rather than splitting the row, and a Hebrew table lays its first column out on the right.
