At its core, RedPing SOS gives you a deliberate Manual SOS flow: hold the emergency button for five seconds to reduce false alarms, then follow the live emergency session on the SOS screen with location sharing for trusted contacts. On iPhone, manual SOS opens Apple Messages with a prefilled alert so you can complete carrier SMS by tapping Send. During an active incident, live breadcrumb-style movement updates help preserve location continuity so contacts and authorized responders can better understand how your situation is changing over time.
RedPing SOS also supports passive protection on supported plans through Advance Crash and Fall Detection (ACFD). When the app detects a possible serious event, it can move into a verification and escalation flow designed for moments when a user may be injured, disoriented, or unable to respond quickly. Additional failsafe coverage includes Last Ping, a layered escalation path built for missed incidents, prolonged inactivity, or battery-critical situations.
On iPhone, the paired Apple Watch companion can sync with the phone, reflect ACFD state when allowed, and request SOS through the phone-led workflow. The watch is a companion to the iPhone, not a standalone emergency dispatch path.

RedPing SOS is available on Android and iOS. Some advanced behaviors vary by platform because of operating-system rules—for example, iPhone ACFD is intended for foreground or backgrounded-while-alive use and does not mirror every Android swipe-away or closed-app recovery path. The app is designed to remain useful when connectivity is weak by preserving emergency intent, using last-known context where needed, and following through when the connection returns.
RedPing SOS works alongside the RedPing Search and Rescue (SAR) ecosystem for authorized responder coordination where available. It is designed to support emergency readiness, trusted-contact coordination, and safer follow-through during urgent events. It does not replace local emergency services, does not automatically dial emergency numbers, and some features depend on plan level, device support, permissions, carrier coverage, and platform behavior.
