SnapNotes 1.5 is a big one. The whole app got a calmer, cleaner look, the piano screen was rebuilt around the notes, and there's a new pack for your first year at the piano. A new piano screen - In landscape the notes get the screen: controls sit in one slim bar that fades while you play - Notes are colored by hand, so you can see at a glance which hand plays what - A keyboard with real depth: keys sink when they're struck, and only the Cs are labelled - The stage takes on the color of the song you're playing - Practice is now one tap, right next to play Every song has a page - Each song wears its own color, with its melody drawn across the top - Tricky bars are listed right there, ready to loop - Pro: slow-to-fast drills start a tricky bar at 60% and speed up after every clean pass - Pro: a chart of every run, plus whether each hand rushes or drags More songs, better labels - First Pieces: 22 real beginner pieces, free — notebook minuets, Handel, Clementi - Difficulty now has four levels, Beginner to Advanced, graded the way teachers grade - Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor joins the classics - Fixed tempos on several pieces (the Turkish March was playing at half speed) Little things that add up - Your week on the Progress tab is free for everyone - Text can go up to twice as large, with better VoiceOver labels and Reduce Motion support - The on-screen sustain pedal in free play works properly - A recording is never lost if you clear its name - The first-song tour points at the right things now - Plus a long list of smaller fixes and polish

SnapNotes 1.4 is a round of refinements. The piano sounds better, practice flows smoother, and a dozen small requests found their way in. A better-sounding piano Playback now runs through a warm room reverb (adjustable in Settings), and scanned songs play with natural dynamics instead of every note striking identically. Practice, smoother - A–B loop: tap once to mark a loop's start at the playhead, again to close it - An on-screen sustain pedal in free play - Pin a song to keep it at the top of Home while you're working on it - A longer count-in option for when you need both hands ready - Remembered section loops now clear after a day, so songs open fresh Little things that add up - Choose your app icon: Classic, Teal, or Ember - Show note names with or without octave numbers (E instead of E4) - Practice the trainer in the left-hand register, one octave down - Tap the chord symbol during a song to see the chord's notes - Smoother first-launch experience, plus assorted fixes and polish

Minor improvements and housekeeping.

SnapNotes 1.3 is our biggest update yet, featuring a redesigned app, chord intelligence, and smarter practice tools. A new design Navigate with real tabs: Home, Library, and Progress. Every song now has its own color, making the library more aesthetic to browse, and Home opens on the song you're working toward with your next milestone in view. Chord intelligence SnapNotes now understands harmony. Free play names any chord as you hold it, and songs display chord symbols above the falling notes. A new trainer builds your skills step by step. These include chords, inversions, progressions, scales, and arpeggios. The trainer can drill the chords from the songs in your own library. Smarter practice - Tempo ladder: master each song at 70%, then 85%, then full speed - Trouble spots: see which bars need work after each run, and tap to loop them - Section loops are now remembered for every song More improvements - Portrait mode: prop your phone on the music rack and enjoy a taller view of the falling notes - Layouts built for iPad - Tap the screen during playback to hide the controls - MIDI keyboards now reconnect automatically after switching apps - Cleaner song titles for imported files - Performance improvements and bug fixes

The big one this update: MIDI keyboard support. Plug your keyboard in over USB or Bluetooth and the app picks it up. It remembers your keyboard too, so after the first time it just connects on its own. In practice mode you'll see wrong notes flash red on the keys. If your keyboard doesn't have speakers there's a new setting to play the sound through the app. Other stuff: - 5 note styles (Pixel and Sketch are my favorites) with matching piano looks and backgrounds - You can use your own photo as the background now - Count-in clicks before playback starts - Songs pick up where you left off instead of starting over - Cleaned up the settings screen - Bug fixes and performance improvements
