Through simple daily learning tasks, social features, and authentic audio stories, Talo strives to help users feel more in tune with their family's cultures. Whether you're a 2nd generation immigrant, a wife with mixed kids, or a fiancé looking to learn about his soon to be wife's culture, Talo is a great place to engage with your culture.
There are several situations that may cause a person to feel disconnected from a culture they wish to engage with:
- You are 2nd or 3rd generation and your parents prioritized you getting a customed to your new home country's way of life.
- You are introduced to a culture through a new relationship; wife, kids, friends, etc.
- You reside in an area with little to no presence of your culture.
While there are many solutions out there:
- Online courses - Too formal. No soul or social connection.
- Language Learning Apps - While language is one of the main portions of a culture, it isn't the only aspect.
- Meetups - There isn't always an event in your area, can be overwhelming for introverts, and they aren't always consistent.
- Facebook Groups - Great for finding people, but again not always in your area, no in depth learning, and people don't often engage.
They don't solve the core problem, which is that people feel disconnected. They want to feel comfortable around other people like them. They want to educate themselves on their family's culture. They want to be around people just like them. This problem of disconnection is more than learning a new language. People need a place or service that no matter where they are in the world, no matter what their educational background is, they can consistently learn about their culture and engage with those part of it any time. And this needs to be as simple as possible. This is the goal of Talo. To be that place.
Main Features:
- Complete simple daily learning tasks to gain a good understanding of your desire ethnicity/culture. These tasks are sent to users everyday at 8am MST.
- Find and engage with others of the same culture through an interactive map, chat features, and an exclusive feed.
- Stay up to date with global news related to your culture.
- Listen to audio stories related to your culture. These can be old wise tales, myths, legends, etc.
* While most features are completely free, there is a Pro membership to unlock additional functionality.

In this build we addressed many minor UI bugs including:
- Update notification bell styling depending on if a user actually has notifications or not
- Fix registration fields and other input fields to be clickable throughout the field not just on placeholder text
- Fix issue where users weren't able to see or complete their daily task
