Hi, my name is Salvatore La Mattina. Welcome to The Tutor. An app designed to help children develop their English and Math Skills at the Elementary and High School levels. I have a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, am based in Montreal, and have been working in the field of Engineering the past 18 years. I offer private tutoring services as a secondary passion. My passion for tutoring arose when I was starting my family. My son when he was 6 months of age was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis. By the age of three, my wife began to notice that our son had some difficulties in his speech. Our son was then assessed by a speech therapist to having a severe difficulty in speech. Till this day, we don't know if Craniosynostosis is linked to the speech delay, however, as parents we want to give our child all the necessary learning tools to succeed in life. So our son undergoes speech therapy, tutoring, and adaptive activities to help improve his communication skills. All of this has been a very difficult experience overall but it made us realize how important early education and tutoring is in a Childs life. I don't want other children to go thought these experiences and I want to pass on my experiences to other children to help them. As a tutor, I offer lessons in English grammar. Why? Because 3 to 10 percent of children have a speech delay. English or communication with friends, family and at the work place is crucial for succeeding in life. Hence, this is a very important subject covered by The Tutor. I also offer lessons in Math. Math to be frank, is a very difficult subject. When I was in High School, I first struggled with math. The problems were too complex and I could not grasp how to solve the necessary equations. Math in high school is crucial because the level in math the you obtain in high school dictates the study programs you will be able to undertake College. In high school, I had to work extra hard and develop new skills to succeed in math. And from that point onward I was able to succeed in any other math course in College and University because I had a good grasp/building block from high school. This is why I tutor math from Elementary to High School - To give the needed building blocks to succeed. The Tutor app itself is divided into two main categories. Private Lessons and Free Lessons. Private lessons are simple, should you wish to have private lessons from myself, please goto the Private Lesson section of the app where you will be able to contact me. For free lessons, you will find math exercises for you to practice. New content is added regularly for math levels 1-6 Elementary and 1-5 High School. Thank you and Enjoy
