Want to transform your mild-mannered mug into a hideous creature bent on terror (or at least chocolates)? These photo-filter apps will help you find your inner Mr. or Ms. Hyde.
Snapchat

As an app synonymous with face filters, Snapchat is already quite skilled at turning you into a cat, a pumpkin, a piece of broccoli, or an anime version of yourself. But the October highlight, as always, is Halloween-themed versions of the app’s iconic Lenses. (If you’ve ever wanted a terrifying red-eyed version of the Puppy Lens, brace yourself.) And this year, Snapchatters can dress up in new augmented-reality costumes as a zombie, sorceress, or dancing hot dog.
Monsterfy
Be forewarned: Monsterfy will turn your selfies into all manner of truly horrific creatures. There are zombies, of course, and also fire-eyed demons, gray-skinned vampires, and unsettling old-timey dolls (which technically shouldn’t be terrifying yet definitely are).
Best of all, Monsterfy filters are animated, so you can take a video of your zombified self and share it with friends and family—at least those with strong stomachs.
Artleap

Everybody loves a clown—except, of course, all those people who are afraid of clowns (which is a lot, and all those It movies didn’t help). In this one-tap photo editor from the makers of Facetune, you’ll find a filter called Jokers. Just import a selfie (Portrait mode pics work best) and apply the filter to transform yourself into a scary/weird/crazy clown. Don’t forget to smile!
YouCam Fun

This clever face-filter app, a former App Store Best Of winner, is an incredible source of Halloween inspiration. Super-detailed selfie-filters outfit you with outlandish hair, makeup, accessories, and blingy animations. Many filters are preloaded; download dozens more for free, including a Halloween-appropriate witch, black cat, and alien.
