Awful app business model and vague refund policy

I really want to support this app’s concept of accessible Islamic education for all. But my recent experience with it left me with a bitter taste.All the lessons are locked behind a paywall and you cannot then unless you subscribe. Even Duolingo (which the app purports to emulate) allows lessons to be accessed without committing to their plan. Even worse, I accidentally subscribed to the app, and without realizing it my card was charged under their annual plan. To rub salt into the wound, I requested for a refund twice through Apple Support and was rejected both times for reasons unknown.My advice to the developers:1) At least adopt a freemium model where users can still do lessons on a free plan with the option to pay for access additional lessons.2) Be less stringent on your refund policies, be more transparent about it, and allow refunds for accidental purchases.

Our app onboarding is extremely clear regarding the fact that it is paid, the price, and that there is a free trial involved. This is made clear and to be able to continue you must double confirm with Apple Pay on the paywall. Not to mention that Apple are very strict with ensuring that all this information is clear. We compare ourselves to Duolingo in terms of the style of our lessons ... they're short 5 minutes a day and super interactive! In terms of refunds, this is not in our control ... all refund requests go with Apple and not with us! You weren't rejected by us but rather by Apple and this is unfortunately based on previous history, app usage and other factors that Apple use to decide if it grants a refund or not. I'm happy to see what we can do if you drop us an email inshaAllah at salaam@jibreel.app but would really kindly ask that you consider removing this review as it's very unfair and hurtful for us. Freemium models in the past have only resulted in great initiatives and projects to be completely left abandoned ... we have so many costs including software, content reviews and scholars we pay to review content! We want to make a world-class app and that means hiring world-class people to be on the Jibreel team.
