Notifications hell

The app is genuinely [quite] useful as a source of Malaysian news, but the notification settings are appalling. There are 4 notification settings: none, important, top headlines and everything. The “important” setting is only meant to push 0-2 notifications a day -this is the app’s own description. But at this setting I get close to 10 or more notifications a day (daily Covid number reports alone contribute 3-5 notifications even at this setting!)…what’s the point. The app becomes ridiculously intrusive at this point. So the only option is to turn off notifications, which means zero alerts even for important news. It’s fairly unbelievable that the developers set the definitions for the notification settings, but they then make an app that is completely at odds with it.

Stop interrupting my music and radio stream!

I don’t mind ads in your news article, but the way the embedded ads cut out the music/audio stream in the background is way too annoying. I typically listen to news and business radio in the morning while going through important news on the app, I find myself having to restart my music/radio stream numerous times every time I read a news article in this Newswav ad, it’s getting unbearable. My solution at the moment is copy the link to the article and open it in Safari, then enable Reader mode, a bit too many steps to achieve a peaceful news reading experience though.
Great app but recently…

Your app started those video ads when click on an article. I don’t mind these ads but once I close it to scroll down to read the article, the video kept on popping up. That, it is very irritating and annoying, and I ended up not reading the article but source the story somewhere else. TBH, because of this, I have seldom use your app already. I just checked your app, and it’s still there, that means I will stay away until it is no longer that way.
