The first independent guitar learning app for the visually impaired – keep your hands on the guitar, and let guitar guide you. The Guita app helps visually impaired individuals learn to play the guitar on their own, without needing to see sheet music. Systematic Learning Curriculum Guita provides a structured guitar learning curriculum designed for visually impaired individuals to learn independently. The curriculum mirrors the actual process of learning guitar and consists of four main stages: Chord Learning, Strumming Pattern Learning, Song Section Practice, and Full Song Practice. Users begin with basic chord training and can progress to playing a full song through the app. Chord Learning Curriculum In the Chord Learning stage, the app supports a sequential process for mastering a single chord. Users first learn the individual notes on each string required for the chord, and then practice holding down all the strings to form the complete chord. The Guita app sequentially provides instructions on how to fret each string, the sound it should make when plucked, and feedback on the sound the user produces. Strumming Pattern Learning Curriculum The Strumming Pattern Learning stage guides users through the specific strumming patterns needed to play a song. It starts with explanations of basic strokes and provides audio examples of the actual strumming pattern to help the user learn and replicate it. Song Section Practice Curriculum In Song Section Practice, users can apply the chords and strumming patterns learned in the previous stages to practice songs section by section. The app announces the upcoming chord one beat in advance, allowing users to play without having to memorize the song's structure. It also allows for continuous repetition of desired sections before playing the entire song. Features in Full Song Practice The Full Song Practice stage allows users to practice the entire song they have been working on in the previous sections. Similar to the section practice, it announces the next chord one beat ahead to facilitate a smoother playing experience. This stage also includes a speed control feature, enabling users to play the song at their desired tempo. Detailed Voice-Over Descriptions The Guita app offers detailed voice-over functionality for all essential on-screen components. This feature helps users easily understand their position within the app. For example, a "Back button" is described more clearly as, "First button, button to return to the previous page." Voice Command Functionality When a lesson begins, the Guita app provides voice command functionality, allowing users to keep both hands on the guitar while learning. The voice commands "Again," "Next," and "Previous" (the "Previous" command is not supported in Full Song Practice) can be used in the Chord Learning, Strumming Pattern Learning, and Song Section Practice stages. "Again" Command: Repeats the current lesson. "Next" Command: Proceeds to the next lesson. "Previous" Command: Returns to the previous lesson. Help Section The Guita app provides a detailed help section in the top-right corner of each learning curriculum screen. The help section offers an overview, usage instructions, and the progression of the lessons, helping users adapt to the app more quickly.
