What’s New

Version 5.17.4

- We thought it’d be a good idea to make an overnight bike trip to New Hampshire, to watch the sunrise on Mount Washington in peak fall colours
- Oops, someone forgot to tell these poor Canadians about the 100 kph winds at the summit
- Headed to a better, less drafty destination this fall? Take advantage of iOS 18’s new controls: you can now launch Transit directly into a location search, or into the trip plan results for a specific destination — bypassing the homescreen completely. Swipe down on the top right corner of your screen to set your first control!
- Oh? What’s that? You actually *prefer* to rock a toupée with that drafty, windswept look?
- Be mildly blown away: you can now skip back and forth on Rate-My-Ride questions about your GO trip, like “did your bus arrive on time?” and “how would you rate New England’s only cog railway system on a scale of F1 to F5?”
- Lastly, just in time for American Thanksgiving (the smaller-football-oriented sequel to Canadian Thanksgiving) we’ve clarified the date of holidays when looking up holiday service changes in the app
- Plus enough bug fixes and improvements to fill a tofurkey

Rate us 5 stars if Transit green is your favourite fall colour

Editors’ Notes

Lots of apps can offer driving directions—but what if you’re not driving at all? That’s where Transit comes in. The travel planning app shows you how to get from point A to point B via train, bus, rideshare—and now even bikeshare and scooter. The app will seek out your best route, offer a few alternate options, and let you know how long you can expect to be in transit.

Needs one more feature

I’ve been using this app for my daily commutes and find it incredibly helpful for navigating public transit efficiently. However, I’ve encountered a frustrating challenge that could be addressed to enhance user experience further. In areas where roads are divided or have parallel layouts, it can be very confusing for users waiting for the bus on the wrong side of the road.

I recommend the app include a feature that alerts users when they are waiting on the opposite side of a divided road from their intended bus stop. This notification would prompt users to safely cross to the correct side, thereby avoiding missed buses and ensuring a smoother transit experience, especially in unfamiliar or complex road layouts.

It would be great if this feature is implemented with more GPS accuracy, because sometimes the app points that i’m on the the wrong side when I’m actually on the right side.
