This update fixes a few small bugs. It includes all the great features in iA Writer 7.2:

- New tree navigation makes it easier to organize your work
- Click a folder to expand its contents without leaving your current location
- Use contextual menu to create files and folders in expanded subfolders
- Use contextual menu to open a folder (just like before)
- Drag and drop to move files

- You can choose between tree and list navigation in settings

Hashtags! <3
I think iA is superior to Ulysses in pretty much every way. The only thing that kept me from completely switching to it was the lack of organization possibilities. The introduction of the better file manager in 5.0 already made a huge difference, but it’s the addition of hashtags that finally makes iA the only editor I need. Also, they nailed tags even better than e.g. Ulysses and Day One, staying with the plain text philosophy, because the tags are written inline in the text file. Goodbye Ulysses!
(Why else is it superior?)
- Simple but perfect Word and PDF export (compared to Ulysses’ messy export since like forever)
- Actual markdown editor (Ulysses for some reason decided to footnotes, images, links, etc. ‘their own way’)
- Made for use with filesystem (Ulysses allows this, but it’s messier because they prefer their sheet library)
- Only one (ok, two…) font which is perfect (Ulysses allows for a lot of customization, but it never gets as good as iA’s simplicity)
But the most important point is still its extreme speed and simplicity. I want to type, I launch iA and type. I need a docx or pdf afterwards, I export it with one click and it’s perfect.

Absolutely nailed it!
You absolutely nailed it with iA Writer 5.0! The organizer is amazing and the overall look is so much cleaner. I really like the new toolbar. Thank you so much for your hard work! iA Writer has long been my favorite text editor for almost everything (I mainly use it to take notes and write summaries for school). The new organizer makes the workflow much easier and faster.
The only thing I would like to see is a way to quickly add tables and other markups. Most of the time I use shortcuts, but since the table menu item doesn’t have a assigned keyboard shortcut I guess I’m going to assign a custom shortcut to it.
Gebruik het voor alles
IA Writer is zo clean en zo handig dat ik het gebruik voor alles wat ik schrijf, van een eenvoudig lijstje tot lijvige documenten. Echt heel prettige tool om in te werken, arm aan afleiding.
