Most kanji apps show you a character and its readings and expect you to memorize them cold. Kanji Study takes a different approach: you learn kanji through the vocabulary words they appear in. By studying real JLPT words, over 5,000 of them across N5 to N1, you absorb kanji readings naturally, one word at a time, the way they actually appear in Japanese. What makes it different: Vocabulary-first learning: master readings through words, not rote memorization Writing lessons with stroke detection: learn correct stroke order and get instant feedback Spaced repetition reviews: English → Japanese and Japanese → English, including writing quizzes Full JLPT coverage: structured levels from N5 through N1 Audio pronunciation: hear every word read aloud Works offline: no internet connection required Ideal for JLPT test prep, Japanese language students, or anyone preparing to live or work in Japan.

Great for learning, I totally love that the drill and review include writing!Just missing one thing to make it an ideal app for me: the ability to switch off checking for the English translation or make it optional (like flipping or something). Always translating doesn’t let me stY focused on Japanese entirely

His this is by for the best app for kanji I've tried. I do have 1 problem to report- it's been a few months since l practiced kanji consistently so I wanted to reset my data and start from scratch. However, I’m encountering the problem that when I reset my data, it applies for like a day, and next day when I am going to practice kanji, all the old progress is back. It is specially a big issue when I try to use the “review past due” function as it asks me for more advanced kanji I do not remember anymore (the reason I’m trying to reset the data in the first place). If this issue could be fixed I’d change my rating to 5 starts because the app is seriously amazing, I recommend it to everyone and anyone who asks me for resources to learn Japanese. I don’t usually pay for apps, but this one was well worth my money.

Great app! I usually do 10 lessons a day, which feels just right for me. I also make sure to review my past due every day—if I skip a few days, the reviews can really pile up. It’s best not to leave the app closed for too long, since otherwise you might have to start your review over
