Noir is a Safari extension that automatically adds a dark mode to every website you visit.
It makes browsing the web at night so much better. With Noir, you won’t be blinded by bright websites ever again.
And the results look great too. Noir generates a custom dark style for each website you visit, based on the colors that are used on a page. You won’t even notice this happening in the background – that’s how fast it is – but you’ll certainly appreciate the end result: a beautiful dark mode tailored for each website, where contrast is preserved and highlights still pop. And with over 20 built-in themes and the ability to create your own, you can customize the results exactly the way you want.
Noir works with any website you visit in Safari, automatically. By default, Noir is linked to your device’s Dark Mode, so websites will only go dark when you want them to. But you can easily customize this to your liking, even per website. Only want to use Noir on just a few specific websites? Sure thing! Disable Noir on some websites? No problem!
Built from the ground up for iOS and iPadOS, the app feels right at home on your device. It supports the brand new Safari web extension feature, which means there’s no need to manually activate it every time you load a new page. The app also tightly integrates with system features such as Shortcuts, Control Center, Focus Filters, and Widgets to fully integrate Noir in all your workflows. And your settings are automatically synced to all your devices using iCloud.
And just as importantly, Noir takes your privacy seriously: it doesn’t collect any of your browsing data. Period.
Noir is made by an indie iOS developer. It does not include any subscriptions or ads. Buy Noir once, use it forever.

I would love an option where I can run my device in dark mode trough out the day and that Noir would switch to dark as soon as the sun sets and switch back to light during the day. I prefer my websites in light mode whenever it is daytime. Other than that: great app, very stable, solid work! Keep it up :)

It fixes some issues and visual quirks, makes sure the guides and instructions are up-to-date, and the mono style app icon has been tweaked to look better on your Home Screen or in your App Library.

Hi there! Thanks you for using Noir.
Unfortunately, a new bug on iOS 26.6 can cause a delay of up to 10 seconds before extensions like Noir are loaded when you first open Safari. Once Noir is loaded, it remains loaded until Safari is removed from memory on your device. This sometimes happens automatically (especially on older devices), but it's usually because you removed Safari from the multitasking menu yourself.
When you encounter this issue, just leave Safari open. Noir should load shortly, and will be working instantly again from then on. Please refrain from closing Safari manually from the multitasking menu. Leaving Safari open means Noir remains loaded and working instantly.
Unfortunately, this is a bug in iOS itself, and there's nothing I can do about it. It happens for every Safari extension, but it's especially noticeable with Noir, because you can immediately tell that Noir has not loaded yet.
This update adds shows info about this bug when you open the Noir menu in Safari when the extension has not been loaded yet. Sadly it's all I can do for now.

Hi there! This update of Noir brings another set of website fixes and improvements. As always, thanks so much for reporting issues, these help a lot! Among these improvements is a fix for an issue that prevented nytimes.com from loading when Noir was enabled.
Additionally, Noir's default shortcuts (shown in the Shortcuts app and in Spotlight when searching for Noir) should now work more reliably, even when the app is not active in the background.

The latest update of iPadOS, iPadOS 26.4, brings back a Safari feature: compact tab bar. Unfortunately, it contains a bug that causes Safari to crash when you try to open the Noir menu (or any other extension).
With this update, Noir now detects when you have the compact tab bar enabled, and if so, shows a warning when you try to open the Noir menu. Changing back your setting to the default separate tab bar will restore the Noir menu again.
I'm really sorry about this. Unfortunately the crash is inside iPadOS, and beyond my control. I hope the bug gets fixed soon. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out to me through the Contact Support button inside the Noir app.
