The story of Morphite takes place in a far off future when humanity has long since populated the distant reaches of space. The player takes on the role of Myrah Kale, a young woman residing on a space station and workshop under the care of her surrogate father, Mr. Mason. What starts as a simple exploratory mission to gather supplies to support their shop rapidly turns into a journey revealing Myrah’s unknown past and her relationship to a rare, coveted, and nearly extinct material called Morphite.

In order to unlock and understand the mysteries of her past, Myrah must travel to undiscovered planets, roam uncharted sectors of space, and confront exotic creatures and locales in search of this Morphite.

Aside from the main storyline, the worlds of Morphite are randomly generated. Encounter various creature types, landscapes, caves, rivers, and more to explore. Explore large space stations, abandoned or infested with alien life.

Morphite-metroïdvania style game.

Morphite is one of those games that once you start playing you keep on playing because you want to find out what’s coming next. I really like the FPS style gameplay and viewpoint. The exploration and shooting and finding better weapons gameplay is very satisfying.

Great Idea but Bad Execution

I really liked the concept of this game, but there are sadly quite a number of issues with it that the other reviews don't mention.

- Bugs & Abandoned by Developers

Whilst playing the game, I would frequently noclip through the environment and temporarily get stuck, or fall into the void. Because the game seems to have been abandoned by its developers, I don't see this ever getting fixed.

- Movement

The movement is quite clunky, making platforming a bit frustrating. The main issues lie with the jumping specifically. Whilst trying to scale the environment to get to a higher spot, you'll often become stuck in places where you should be able to jump. It simply doesn't allow you to jump at all, which makes getting down difficult as well.

Along with the aforementioned noclipping bugs, this makes exploring the environment pretty annoying at times, even though that is a massive part of the game. It was what pulled me in, after all.

- Repetitive

The main reason I was interested in this game, was for it's open-world exploration. You can explore many different planets with "unique" ecosystems etc. However, the vast majority of these planets have nothing interesting to do. You scan some plants/animals, and that's it. Maybe you'll find some minerals or an upgrade pod, but those are nothing of note either. The sidequests you'll find are simple gather or kill quests, with no story behind it.

The game doesnt give you any info in the scans you make either - there are no written descriptions. It only lists some characteristics, like the rarity of the scan and how much it's worth.

- Awkward Characters/Voiceacting

The way the characters are written/voiceacted feels pretty... awkward. The characters come accross as flat and rather NPC-like.

I ended up requesting a refund (mainly due to the bugs/movement issues), but it got denied. Now I'm stuck with what feels like the unfinished shell of a game.

I urge you to consider carefully whilst deciding to buy this game. Perhaps you'll like it as much as some of the other reviewers did, but I know I got bored of it very quickly.
