Note: Access to a Nextcloud server with the Notes app installed is required to use this app. Visit https://nextcloud.com for more information. Nextcloud Notes is a notes editor that syncs with the Notes app (https://github.com/nextcloud/notes/releases) on your server. Once you have logged in to your server, all notes will be kept in sync between devices and also the web interface. Optionally supports sync on startup. You can create and delete notes directly on the device. Notes can be organized in categories. Edit as plain text or use markdown for rich formatting. Notes can be copied or exported to other apps or services in several formats. If you have a sync client (optional) installed on your desktop computer all notes will be there too, and can be edited with any text editor.

The app works, but there are some quirks. It’s not immediately clear whether you’re logged in to your Nextcloud instance. After you add your server and log in successfully, the server URL reverts back to the default Nextcloud cloud URL, which can be confusing.The app also doesn’t feel very intuitive. For example, there’s no way to add or edit categories within the app you have to do that through the browser.EDIT: it is possible within the app but again not very intuitive.That said, adding and editing notes seems to work fine. We’ll see how things go over time.

Dear RandyJoshua, thanks for your feedback! We have changed our login experience with the latest update and there are more major changes to come over time. The issues described about the server address are no longer there.

CloudNotes is a brilliant solution for text-based markup notes. I’ve been using this app for some three months now and it has proven to be not only functionally satisfactory but very reliable as well. I moved from SimpleNote to CloudNotes only because I like to host my own data (on NextCloud). Although I had no complaints about SimpleNote, I found CloudNotes to be even better. Especially the formatting while editing markup text is very convenient. Compared to “all media” note taking solutions such as Evernote and OneNote, CloudNotes might seem somewhat limited. Being all too familiar with these alternatives, I find the simplicity of markup-note taking to be refreshingly easy and pleasing. If you run your own NextCloud you should definitely try this one.
