Best free password manager I have used
Don’t know why people like this app
I’ve tried really hard to switch to using this app for password management, but it just isn’t good enough, at least not at the moment.
The good parts:
- open source
- cross platform (but not native)
- relatively intuitive user interface
- very reasonable price for the paid version
The app uses JavaScript for its gui to be cross platform, and the core app is open source, which was the reason I decided to try it out in the first place. But, sadly it doesn’t have the modern features you’d expect from a password manager in (soon to be) 2021.
The Bad Parts:
- Doesn’t “remember“ the passwords you generate for apps on the phone, and needs to sync before it gets available, like right after you created it. This isn’t as easy as doing a manual refresh, as this doesn’t seem to help at all. Sometimes it takes a few minutes before it is available, and I’ve even experienced that it just disappears. Very Bad.
- Sometimes it just “forgets” the passwords you generate and save, especially if you have to create a new entry + password in one go. Next time you try to log in, it has no password stored, just the username. Very Bad.
Some other minor pains as well, but the two most serious bugs are the ones mentioned.
I’ve been using the paid version of the app for a few months, but this app causes too much anger for me to keep using.
