When Aurora said go last winter, the northern lights showed up 9 times out of 10. See tonight's chance where you are, and get an alert when it's worth going out.
Know which nights are worth it.
Aurora gives you one clear answer each evening: tonight's chance of seeing the northern lights where you are, how sure the forecast is, and the best hours to look up.
TONIGHT
• Tonight's chance in percent, with a confidence level
• A sky that shows your actual night: aurora strength, cloud and the real moon
• Best viewing hours: the clearest dark hours at your location, and when a bright moon rises or sets
• Why: clouds, darkness, moonlight and space weather, in plain words
• Next chance: on weak nights, see which night looks better
PLAN AHEAD
• Three nights ahead, with tonight's cloud cover hour by hour
• A 7-night outlook of darkness and moonlight
• Any destination: check Tromsø, Abisko, Iceland or Lapland before you go
ALERTS
• A planning alert on afternoons when tonight looks genuinely good
• Choose Quiet, Balanced or Max chances, from roughly 5 to 9 alerts a month in an active winter
• An optional heads-up when conditions turn strong during the night, and quiet hours when you want them
BUILT FOR REAL CONDITIONS
Aurora combines space weather from NOAA and GFZ with MET Norway's cloud forecasts for your exact spot, instead of relying on the Kp index alone. We checked every call against all-sky cameras in northern Scandinavia, and judged moonlit nights by eye. Last winter, when Aurora said go, the aurora was visible 9 times out of 10. Over three winters of backtests, nights rated Excellent had clearly visible aurora 79% of the time.
A forecast, not a guarantee: the aurora is unpredictable and conditions can change within minutes.

The Tonight sky now shows your actual night: aurora strength, cloud and the real moon.
New: Next chance. On weak nights, see which night looks better.
Best viewing hours now shows when a bright moon rises or sets.
Sharper forecasts under the moon. We retrained the model with moonlit nights checked by eye, so a clear night under a bright moon no longer reads too low.
Alerts arrive about as often as before, and are right at least as often.
Plus faster location search and fixes.
