Had this app for about 3-4 years and generally found it fine. I obviously found the ads annoying but I just ignored them and find that if you don’t click on anything except log period then you don’t really run into them. However, today my experience led me to uninstall the app. I got a pop up that there is a symptom they have detected which may imply I could have PCOS. I clicked on it to do some further investigation but not overly concerned. Tried to find out what this symptom was and how to analyse if I have symptoms attributed with the disease as per what the app suggested I could, only to find I needed to pay for premium to find out this information which I honestly find really low. Using women’s and YOUNG GIRL’S fear of their own reproductive health to entrap them into giving the app money is downright scummy. I understand premium funds the app and these suggestions which are optional can only be accessed via premium which is fine if you ignore them. However, using fear and concern for health to get someone to give you money for something they can find for free on the internet or discuss with a real doctor is low. I am not the only one who’s had this experience which is why I worry for the young girls or other women who trust the app and it’s advice since it has their cycle data who are likely to pay for this advice which is in no way necessary. The suggestion from the app should be “here is the symptom we found due to this reason, we suggest contacting a medical professional or doing your own research on the matter”. I’d prefer to download an app founded by women who are actually out to help other women not just gouge from them.
