There might be a few bad reviews on here but honestly Grindr is really good. Ads are necessary to keep it free yes that’s called normal business and there really isn’t any ad that stops you from using the app so I’m fine with it. Premium is worth it and is well priced. Even if you don’t have premium, the the app is unlike some other apps ( I’m looking at you surge) where it’s still usable as if you’re looking for a simple hookup then your in luck or even a bf or gf, the only problem is that the text sending is not the best as it’s based off wifi not what you send texts with (as far as I can tell) so that means if you or the person you are sending the message or image to has jungle wifi then it will send but it won’t go through but this is user fault so 5 stars

Shame the fees have increased so much this year what with covid and inflation its really hard to justify social spending Easy to use only thing I don’t like is cant often see the distance a person is from me , this should be locked on all profiles Also a suggestion to have the name of the location , this would prevent a lot of scam messages I get . Although some people seem to get around that somehow ! Overall it’s easy and very responsive from admin when required. Stay safe and be kind to others . Steve xxxx

App seems to wildly change a few times a year

It seems like the company behind Grindr changes focus at different times throughout the year. Late last year, the app was getting a bit buggy. Seems over Christmas the number of ads on free accounts has decreased, while they’ve been fixing bugs. Now the app is pretty stable, no bugs, so the number of ads has ramped up to the insane level of long video ads, every couple of minutes, with heaps of ‘give us money so more people see your profile’ pop ups. My guess is that in a few months we’ll get some new feature that will be hit or miss, make the app buggy again, until by the end of the year they remove the ads again, fix bugs and the life cycle of Grindr goes on another year.

Since Grindr has become publicly listed, meaning they are now aiming to make profits, it’s become very annoying to use. The forceful ads every click makes it very hard to chat with people. The amount of scams sending you messages of links then an ad plays as soon as you open the message feels like the developers are doing it on purpose to gain more ad clicks for money. My usage of this app has definitely dropped. The main purpose of connecting the community has been lost in the ads and profit making. What was originally created for the community is now just a tool to make profits out of our time.If you can please avoid this app and move on to something else that hasn’t lost its essence.
