Sending money to friends and family in other countries can be a pricey proposition, unless you can find a way to avoid the unfavourable currency exchange rates set by banks. TransferWise uses the standard exchange rate—not your bank’s—when you wire money abroad. It’s remarkably streamlined and easy to use, especially for frequent transfers, and it’ll save you plenty of dollars, pounds, euros, zloty…whatever money means to you.
BEWARE!
PsymonS
Yes I’ve saved a lot of money on transfers and overseas spending. However I’ve been a victim of fraud and WISE appears to not have adequate systems in place to ensure security.Subsequently I have lost far more in one moment than all those savings combined.Be aware that unlike Banks, Wise does NOT have 24/7 fraud or customer support available. The scammers know this and cleverly work outside of Wise’s office hours. Also be aware that Wise’s 2 step security verification process will not secure your money. You are supposed to receive an in App notification asking “is this you” if an external attempt is made to log in to your account, this did not happen. And finally “contact us” and any local contact numbers are oddly NOT available in the App.Within the App you hit help or contact and this opens a browser that you need to login to your wise account onThe problem here is that if your account is compromised you cannot access it and therefore cannot access the help or contact pages. This seems like a ridiculous system, WISE, sort this out!Users need immediate and clear contact information when it is needed most right there in the App.We’re awaiting the outcome of the investigation and hopefully will eventually see our $4000 returned.
Beware Terrible Customer Support and Security
J@k3B
The app, the conversion service and the rates are great but their customer service and security are terrible. I was shocked at the arrogance of their customer support staff. The first issue was when I made a transfer from NZD to AUD. The bank transferred it immediately and I got auto-acknowledgement from Wise that they received the funds in couple of hours. Yet due to some ridiculous internal issue, Wise waited more than 8 hours to convert the funds and that led me to lose my “guaranteed rate” which was for 8 hours. When customer service was contacted, an absolutely rude lady kept repeating the same thing without answering any of the questions. Terrible service but I left it as the loss was not much. The second incident was a few months later, couple of ghost transactions on my Wise account in USD. I immediately contacted Wise asking them to check. Again another rude customer service person without enquiring just answers that they are “not unauthorised” and has been processed via Apple Pay which is extremely secure!! I had to educate the guy that I’m in NZ and my device is with me so how is it that USD is being transacted? Also educated him that anyone can add any card to their Apple Pay as long as they have the card details. Very clear that Wise has had a data breach and our card details have been compromised. They are keeping quiet about this.

Trustworthy and quick

I’m always a little anxious about sending money overseas. I know I’m not alone, and that’s exactly how major banks all around the world continue to charge high fees on international transfers.Because I travel frequently, my Wise card has become a loyal companion. It’s brilliant for handling multiple currencies, keeping fees low, and even withdrawing cash from ATMs. However, I had never used Wise to transfer a large sum before.Recently, I needed to send funds back to New Zealand after a real estate transaction in Canada. My Canadian bank, TD, quoted me fees that were shockingly high, so I decided to try Wise instead. The experience exceeded every expectation. The platform was simple to use, customer service responded quickly to my questions, and the fees were dramatically lower.Best of all, I transferred the money from Canada in the morning, and it arrived in my New Zealand account only 10 hours later. Absolutely outstanding. Wise saved me nearly $2,000 CAD compared to what TD was going to charge. In short: fast, efficient, incredibly cost-effective, and a service I now trust without hesitation.
We've enhanced for iPhone Duo.
We also fixed bugs and made minor improvements.
Happy sending, spending, and saving!
