Sentence structure and grammar can be challenging for learners. Sentences are displayed with visual aids to reinforce correct word order and help comprehension.
Daily practice is quick and easy; you can even do a lesson while watching TV—way more fun than flipping through a dictionary, plus it effortlessly fits into your day!
The Ka Piki app's design is inspired by the "input hypothesis" of language acquisition and aims to expose learners to a volume of words and phrases at a rapid pace. The more you hear and understand, the more you will learn!
Designed and built by te reo teachers based in Wellington dedicated to making te reo learning easy and accessible. We are working to continually improve learning content, so watch out for more content and lessons in upcoming releases!

GREAT APP with some improvements
I love the design, user interface and lesson structure, it really aids in making the learning process engaging!
I agree with some other comments saying the energy limit isn’t the best as it prevents you from learning more, especially when you’re in the flow state or have weaknesses you’re starting to grasp at the time. I would suggest making the default energy limit a little larger, adding the option to watch an ad for a refill or adding in-app purchase to remove or decrease energy limit (the last two also increases app revenue) but I think referring a friend to get an energy boost is great to get more people using the app and learning te Reo Māori!
All in all a great app and happy it exists, it has helped with my comprehension a lot!

Great app
Good so far and a lot better than when I used it a year ago. I hope you keep adding more with time. I would like to be able to pay money towards this so it keeps improving.
The best te reo app but needs a few changes
This app is great, but I would love the option to turn off the time limit when practising. Leave the time limit for the challenges instead. I like to repeat what is being said, and I don’t have enough time to practice that. Feeling rushed is also not conducive to learning. Also, instead of just selecting yes or no, it would be nice to see some other options, such as translating it ourselves both to/from te reo, like flash cards.
